Sorry if I missed this, but is there a release date (even rough) and will the game be sold boxed? On download portals? Via Steam? Any info on this stuff, yet?

Uh huh. And is there really that much difference between the last week of May or the first week of June?
My point is there are three places listed so far in the thread that give an approximate release time - Q2 2012 which spans April-June, May 2012, and "early summer" which presumably means June 2012. So it sounds like a late May to early June release if you try to reconcile all of that together.

There are different definitions of the seasons, for my purposes I assume that the entire months of June, July and August are summer. But May is spring for sure
Ditto. But do publishers use the official calender start dates of the seasons when using the terms "Quarter" or do they mean Jan-Mar as Q1, Apr-Jun as Q2, etc?
The game will be released May 8th and will be available via Steam, there will also be a boxed version available.
FYI. As a IGN/Prime member, I received today (17 April) an IGN email with a link to a beta-key. That beta-play access is valid until 3 May. I validated the key on Steam, and I have spent the evening playing that version 1.01.22 (build 22 finalized on 28 March). Most features are active, and you may save custom games (unlike many demos where you cannot). Steam should offer it as a pre-order with beta access, which is not the case at the moment.
Would be great if there would exist such an offer on Steam with late Beta access....
