Both war with Brazil and the Army Chief of Staff: YES

"The border spat with the Brazilians cannot go unavenged. We must respond in the most adequate way to secure defense for ourselves and our Bolivian allies."

-Armin Tamzarian

As Senor Tamzarian said, this is a spat; but it may be the end of it; an accidental firefight broke out between the two sides. We don't know who was where exactly, and that is what matters most. Let us keep negotiating with the Brazilian government; perhaps they can be coaxed into giving Bolivia that territory. If not, then we can consider war, but that should be it; war should be the last resort, after all diplomacy has failed!

Perhaps we could create stronger bonds between all Latin American states with a sort of international delegation (led by Chile, of course), to resolve all current border disputes. That way, we not only create peace and stability, we more effectively exert our influence. Should a nation choose not to show, or force its delegates to leave, their lands become open for claims, which all nations will vote on. Chile would have nothing to lose, since we are the most powerful; but we weaken our enemies in many ways, from creating an 'Andean League,' if you will, to having recognizing another nations claims on parcels of land. Perhaps it is too... grandiose, but it would project Chile's might, and stabilize South America.

Loyalty to that Empire was and still should be treason.

I'm with Senator Andonie on this one. If they had been the ones making a revolution, then all our heads would be off. The same goes with the socialistas, if they made a revolution I doubt any of us would survive. However we pardon them? We shouldn't.

Also, I'm glad the Radicales stood together against this war.

War with Brazil:
Yes: 7
No: 9
Abstain:

Chief of Staff:
Yes: 10
No: 1
Abstain: 4

So the former vote is actually pretty close.

Yes, but the thing is, Senor Vallenare, and many of these other prisoners, weren't really Imperialistas; their parents were. Why should they suffer for their parents mistake? Should we have seized Cesar's wife and children and imprisoned them? I don't believe so; they did nothing wrong, and should not be punished for his hubris.

((Also TH, when do these polls close: tomorrow or the day after?))

Tomorrow.

War With Brazil: Against
Chief of Staff Act: Abstain

"There is nothing to be gained by war, except the maiming of many for the enrichment of few. However, in this instance the disputed territory rightfull belongs to our ally in Bolivia. Therefore, I cannot come to a decision on the matter, because I have two conflicting interests. If I had to choose, though, I would vote against."

Anselmo Galante

I suggest a latin american summit in Santiago. We could name it OTLA.

Organización Transnacional Latino Americana.

That way we can make "suggestions" to help our neighboors expand their industry and modernize their urban centers, while keeping in mind the future of the area. We could negotiate peace between the latin american nations! Then the national boundaries within Latin America will be no more, and free trade will thrive. It would truly be the first step into a Latin American union!

Fellow Radicales, this would mean the first step into a world without statism and trade restrictions! Imagine a world where people can walk freely into other neighbooring countries, without fear of xenophobism or discrimination. Imagine a world where the people of Latin America thrive under real freedom from the state!

Republicanos, you guys would love to have Chile lead the summit. We would not only be the most powerful nation in Latin America and would go unchallenged in the area, but the other nations can thrive under free trade and a free market. No tariffs between latin americans, no threat from neighboors. Just we against the europeans. Isnt this what we all want? A great Chile?

For the more conservative types, we would be the lead nation in the Southern Hemisphere! Isn't that what Cesar wanted? He might have been tyrannical and may have used the wrong means, but his goal was fair: A powerful transandean Chilean Empire. We can achieve that, by diplomatic means of course. Por la razón!

And Socialistas.. you despise most of the things we say. But you seek a world without national boundaries, a world where the peoples of the world rejoice in unity. This would be the first step towards a free, united Latin America. Imagine a world where an Argentinian has the same opportunities than a Chilean or a Colombian. A place where we can work together for social development and finally achieve the universal pursuit of happiness.

((I suppose this would work as Chile's sphere of influence?))

I edited my post to add stuff. I suggest you all read it. It's a nice plan.

Mr. Zepeda, your proposal for OTLA is a very good one. It has my support.

-Armin Tamzarian

Well done, General Zepeda; you proposed it better than I could have hoped! This great Latin League has my full support! We will create peace, prosperity (and Chilean dominance) all throughout South America!

((I'm a good ideas guy... I let you all do the heavy lifting :p!))

((I make a good Vice President/right-hand man/advisor. :D ))

I am quite certain it would, Senor Galante; first, we are the leading power in South America, both in economic and military terms. Only Brazil could challenge our might (and would probably lose). By getting them to the negotiation table here and now, we increase the likely-hood of Brazil at least attending the League. With the two most powerful South American states there, the rest will, more than likely, follow suit.

Second, should we go to war, and defeat Brazil (which we probably would), we would become the sole power in Latin America. The other states would have to follow us, or else they would incur our wrath!

Ultimately, if they don't join, they be forced into our sphere, or bow to Brazilian pressure; they have no alternative. So, from their point of view, it would be wiser to join us willingly, and have some autonomy, or be invaded by either of our nations in the future (or suffer economic sanctions, and the like).

((I think that there picture is a bit anachronistic. For example, I doubt that México currently looks like that. Also, the European colonies are European colonies.))

((Such a Debbie Downer, man... it is a good point, though...))
