Irish nationals rose up in revolt in the heartland of Ireland, Dublin. The king was please until he realized they flew the flag of Conaught.
His King Assured him this could be turned into a positive. If County Meade successfully defects to Connaught it can be an easy Conquest for Leinster. Instead of having to capture it from the English.
This reassured the king that his future Capital of Ireland will be in hands shortly.
Ironically Scotland Offered Leinster an Alliance. Undoubtedly they saw the Tensions in Ireland and instead of being drawn into it they rather mediate.
This is a sign of weakness. The King accepted the proposal and was intrigued when he received word of Scotlands internal strife.
Their Army was in ruins and the countryside in revolt. They are in no position to intervene in some Irish Conflict a sea away.
The Kings plans immediately changed. And he picked himself up out of his drunken Idleness. Leinster was not making enough gold to create the fleet needed to invade Tyrone so the plan was scrapped.
He instead decided to insure Scotland would remain out of the conflict through a series of diplomatic initiatives.
He got his rather ugly Niece and proposed a royal marriage with scotland to further distance themselves from Connaught and prevent Scottish Intervention. He labeled it some sort of Gaellic Union of sorts.
Whether the Scots caught on to the kings ulterior motives or they simply found his Nice horrid they decided to deny the offer.
The King was taken back. His Niece in Tears. He got his rather Charming Grand Daughter instead and proposed a new Royal marriage offer. This time the Scots where more accepting.
Shortly after good news arrived from Dublin. The Irish nationalists overran the English Garrison and Meade was free of British Rule for the time being.
The king took his time. He would need to wait this out and see the English response. He hoped the County would formally defect but it would take time. Valuable time in which he could fixed Leinsters reputation in preparation for an Invasion of a larger Connaught. The King was anxious and happy knowing in a few short years he would control all of Ireland south of Tyrone. An Ireland free from English yoke and one with a grand capital in Dublin.
He wanted to ensure this was to be his legacy. He needed more reassurance the Scots would not intervene.
He proposed a treaty to allow the Scots access to Leinsters Territory and Ports. It was accepted. Another step to secure Scottish Isolationism.
He knew even in the worst case scenario Scotland would not be as big of a threat as he had hoped. And if he could successfully integrate Connought and Dublin before the Scots had time to land an Invasion force, that he would be in a better defensive position. Leinster also had full manpower reserves. So in the event of a long drawn out war with Scotland or Connaught, the Kings men could be reinforced with ease.
Only Time would tells and in the coming months the King prepared to make some important decisions that would change Irelands future.
