PLaying as Transvaal and immigrations bonus

The decision only applies to the Boer population in the British part of South Africa. It really doesn't do anything as they won't move. The push is for immigrants who are already en route to your country (not a bonus to go there in the first place) to settle in your original provinces. All and all, it does squat. As Transvaal I've never been able to get any immigrants. They best way to go is to assimilate African pops and get your hands on good healthcare (I usually do it by occupying Zulu for a while, driving up its exhaustion and militancy).

If you want to mess around with creating a South African immigrant republic, you could go into the /Victoria 2/poptypes folder and change the country_migration target to give a bonus to Africa/Oceania as well as North and South America. This won't make much of a difference if the AI is playing one of these countries, as uncivilised nations don't seem to get immigrants, and Transvaal and Oranje won't become democracies under the AI's command.

Honestly though, I've found it to be a bit of a tedious game as there is no one for you to fight, you'll have only 1 or 2 national focuses.

I screwed around with immigration after reading this thread, and the results were a little crazy. As Oranje, after reforming to a democracy, I was getting an average of 7000 immigrants per month (5000 from Austria). I tagged around to the other democracies and they were getting insane amounts of immigrants. I've played as USA and have seen my fair share of immigration booms, but this was out there.

Playing as Transvaal can be hell of a fun Only problem there is that 2/3 of your political parties have Laizes Faire :/
I have myself played as them.

Removing the North/South America bonuses altogether on immigration gave Prussia 25-30 immigrants per month.

They were still losing a few thousand to the USA though.

You should start over. Once you get Zulu (and remember to occupy it a long while, driving up militancy there and enabling you to go for the first health care reform stage early) you can start to build an army and go for Madagascar. Britain is a piece of cake once you get the proper army techs (the tactics and defence ones), with them and your leaders you can slaughter Britain and claim all of South Africa piece by piece (their armies there usually lack leaders).

I tried doing a South-Africa game recently. Started as Britain, released South Africa on day 1 and played from there. Kind of interesting to start with 30k British pops though, I've come as far as the 1900's and I've yet to get more than one national focus. South Africa is pretty fun anyway, you can conquer Oranje, Zulu and Transvaal with Acquire Core casus belli and from there head on to Madagascar. I even tried colonizing Africa, but the single NF wasn't enough to beat France and Britain.

I don't think I ever got more than a hundred or so immigrants a month though. They all go to America. It could of course have been because I had HM's Government and then a Communist rule.
