After reading this thats why my vannila version aod is German but when I downloaded the 1.04 the problem went away.

After having mulled the issue for a long time I finally went ahead and ordered from DLgamer. I had been (and is still) a bit sceptical of downloaded games and perhaps a bit neurotic about being able to re-install later on (without the need for the software to phone home/activate via the net, for fun read this BBC article on Win98 from 2006 and how the "channels" were then dead and updates could not be downloaded anymore, given time companies fold/move on etc.).

Having downloaded it I installed it and applied the 1.07 patch and is very happy, no net activation or such so I assume I could install the game again 15 years from now if I would fancy that. So "gaming luddites" need not hold back on this

Looked at Gamestop.com just a minute before and saw "holy shit" sale. Of course AoD for very nice prize, but also other Paradox games, especially HoI series including epic HoI 1. So everybody interested in shopping, take a look there.
