There are still zoroastrians in Iran and bordering areas. Theyre not extinct, although of course theyre dwindling as they have been for a long time. But im not talking about zoroastrian provinces but minority pops, and there would still enough to have that today and even more so in the Victorian period.

Yes that was what i meant even though i didnt type it :p
Oh, I definitely know that. I know that there are a good few areas where they would be prevalent but they don't pose such a majority as they once did. It would be interesting for a game to put it in, but I really don't see it taking such a major role as in during its heyday.

BTW, I went through a serious time of contemplating conversion... I wound up, so far, at a no, since it would be against the traditions. Liberal Zoroastrians are okay with conversions to keep numbers up. The Indians have still been against it but the Council in Tehran has become tolerant to it.

yes but religion in RTW doesnt really mean anything, just build a christian church in zoroastian (sp?) lands, and after 4 turn they happily converted :)
Yes but it does... at least in BI. Try converting all your lands to christianity as the WRE in BI.

M2tw religion was a joke though.

Oh totally. Religion was just aesthetic. Oh, I see the percentages of [insert Religion here] increase every turn by having a Priest or Imam sitting somewhere in this province.

The majority live in India in cities like Hyderabad. In the last years Zoroastrianism has become accepted as an religion in Iran.. But that doesn't mean they are not harrased. However in Azerbaidjan province there are some. AFAIK.

And thats the beauty of Victoria. Population groups/religious groups/language groups doesnt have to be in majority to be represented in a province on account of the pop system. Even small minorities can be represented. Which is why i think its a bit odd that theyre not represented in the game.

That is an interesting point... And, I will surely look into that. I switched computers as of late, so I will install Vicky to check this out, as I never thought to check. I just think my desire is to see Zoroastrianism spread across the world, which may comprise my first game in EU: Rome.

Reminds me of a few posts I've seen in the mod forums or game guides etc. "My religions bonus sucks... this needs to be balanced". I would think religion is a little more important than a non changeable National Idea.

Oh, it is terrible. I always find myself Papal Sponsor by means of just spamming priests to conquered territories. Religion is just so pointless.

Philippe Thibault's "Great Invasions: 350 -- 1066 AD" has Zoroastrianism in the Sassanid Empire, and you even get a few missionaries and other means of spreading the religion. It is a challenge, though, to spread the faith in the face of the various Christian sects early in the game, and becomes downright nasty in the 7th C, what with the rise of Islam and all.

Loads of fun though.

Note sure its called papal sponser in m2tw lol.

Anyway... there was this big dev blog about how cool it is to get your pope elected.

AND THEN... you do it. Nothing special happens... just a bit better relations. He doesn't really favour your country or anything. Nor do you get any advantages with crusades... I was so dissapointed.

I was excommunicated by my own Pope... Ultimate Irony!
