For me it doesn't matter what you do, do what you think is best.

Also, how did you get all these screenshots of the last chapter in one post, I thought there was a cap on the maximum amount of images :D.

I'll see what everyone else says first, then make a decision based on that. Being in the USA, most, if not all of my posts, are at odd times for people in Europe, so I'll give some time for whoever's in the old world to see and respond.

And I have no idea, I just went with it. I actually had no idea there was an image limit to begin with.

So, I guess what I'm asking here is this: would you like to see me play through this run, or would you rather me restart and put what I've learned to practice?

I had same in my Pate campaign. I ran around with 50+% inflation due to loans.

Its why I suggested going bankrupt...

But, in the end, I formed Mughals and in the 17th and 18th century it all worked out.

Only restart if you feel 'bad' about playing on, and restart if you *want* to restart to adapt to what you learned.

It's your call.

I feel your pain. I had to restart my USA run after playing to 1618 .

If you think the run is not winnable ( i.e can't get achievement ), restart. But do not restart just to optimize the run. my 2 cents.

Great read BTW. very enjoyable.

Chapter 6: Unexpected Visitors

Where we left off last chapter, we were desperately trying to get colonial Brazil up and running, so we could get SOME colonialism spread.

20170601193452_1.jpg

Killing the natives is one of the fastest ways to do so. Unfortunately, only two were left standing by the time I got over there.

20170601193728_1.jpg

At least they die fast.

20170601193749_1.jpg

And not too shortly after, the printing press spawns. Now we're officially two institutions behind. Fun, fun, fun...

20170601193814_1.jpg

And here, we get the chance to lose two inflation. But, at this point, that's just a drop in the bucket, and the points are more useful for development. And since the places we'd be getting autonomy are poor territories, and not rich states, we take the autonomy on the chin.

20170601194152_1.jpg

Meanwhile, we use our claim on Sakalava to gauge our strength. Looks like we're not all that mighty in the eyes of the AI. But we're definitely tenacious!

20170601194938_1.jpg

We still have no allies, since these schmucks are the only ones eligible to be our friends. They're in constant war with each other, so their numbers wouldn't deter even the most cautious of attackers.

20170601195031_1.jpg

For our next splendor ability, we take the institution spread, so when we DO get colonialism, it doesn't take decades to get everywhere. Mercenary discipline was tempting, though, since we're fielding a mostly merc army.

20170601195041_1.jpg

Nice sentiment, but we're too far in debt to get out through conventional means. So we're using the time to improve our infrastructure with buildings, so at least we get something out of our massive pile of loans.

20170601195433_1.jpg

Here's a look at our debt, speaking of. 22/35 loans, and 6808 in the hole. Like I said, we're not paying this off, we're not some rich nation like Timbuktu.

20170601195808_1.jpg

In the meantime, we prepare to finally wipe Kongo off the map. We're missing one claim, but...

20170601195817_1.jpg

With our spy network progressing at .4 per month, we're not going to get that last claim.

20170601195835_1.jpg

And now our truce with the Iberians is over. So we cannot afford to go bankrupt at this point in time.

20170601195859_1.jpg

This event is usually straightforward, in terms of making a decision. However, in my frantic attempts to get colonialism faster, I actually took the new colony, thinking that my old one would finish soon. That was a bad decision, you'll see why soon enough.

20170601200004_1.jpg

Time to die, Kongo. You've had it too good for too long.

The war had just started, when something knocked on our Sheikh's door.

The door burst open before anyone could answer it.

spanishinquisition-1.gif

20170601200108_1.jpg

Now, when I saw this, I was thinking "why the hell is Spain concerned with what some 4PM fetishist is doing? Or am I really that big of a threat, that they want all of Europe to go after me in the heart of Africa?"

Then I remembered.

20170601200118_1.jpg

Kongo is Katholic. Makes total sense now.

For those of you who have never been a part of a crusade, here's the effects it gives to the catholics who are fighting against the target:
  • +30% National manpower modifier
  • +10% National tax modifier
  • +10% Morale of armies
  • +1 Yearly prestige
  • +1 Yearly papal influence
  • +0.25 Yearly devotion

So yeah, kinda nasty if faced with a large foe. At least Kongo is tiny.

20170601200242_1.jpg

Kongo is elusive, and our troops play a game of cat and mouse, trying to corner the small army.

20170601200324_1.jpg

Haha, trapped in Nunu!

20170601200406_1.jpg

Alright you primitive screwheads!

20170601200417_1.jpg

This... IS MY BOOMSTICK!

20170601200434_1.jpg

Some survived, but not for long.

20170601200456_1.jpg

Get outta my Africa.

20170601200518_1.jpg

And goodbye, coalition. No more members from that initial land grab that made most everyone hate us.

20170601200559_1.jpg

We even finished our mission! Too bad we don't really use our manpower, otherwise that would be nice...

20170601201104_1.jpg

Meanwhile, Brazil is going slowly, but nicely :D

Well, it WAS going nicely, until...

20170601201125_1.jpg

PORTUGAL! :mad::mad::eek::mad::mad:

20170601201134_1.jpg

But, Spain isn't in the list of allies, maybe Portugal foolishly thought they could take us alone! Bring. It. On.

20170601201154_1.jpg

Since this is going to be a long war, most likely, war taxes will surely help our income!

20170601201203_1.jpg

See?! We save a WHOLE DUCAT!

War taxes were never used again, they cost more in terms of points than they're worth in cash.

So, let's look at how our armies stack up against each other's!

20170601201321_1.jpg

spanishinquisition-1.gif

SPAIN! How unexpected

20170601201404_1.jpg

Keeping an eye on the coast is imperative in this war. Brazil was immediately abandoned by our troops, and our colonies were kept on the off chance that they weren't taken. (They were, by the way. Not stolen, but sieged up)

20170601201448_1.jpg
20170601201451_1.jpg
20170601201456_1.jpg

Here's how our tech stacks up. I'm a tech behind in military, which is devastating due to the tech level. Infantry fire AND tactics make 12 a HUGE tech.

20170601201658_1.jpg

Spain is dropping off a single unit, and it is dispatched with ease.

20170601201905_1.jpg

Now a REAL spanish stack is attacking, time to put up or shut up

20170601201956_1.jpg

This is scary. We rolled an 11 to their 3 (modifiers are taken into that figure, obviously), and they're STILL doing good damage to us. And that's a 10 stack!

20170601202017_1.jpg

We still beat them, and go in for the finishing blow.

20170601202025_1.jpg

Oh, how unexpected, Spain ;)

20170601202109_1.jpg

Looks like Portugal used the Spanish invasion force as a distraction, so the could unsiege their lands!

20170601202217_1.jpg

Meanwhile, here's how fast we can convert catholic lands. Pretty speedy, all things considering!

20170601202316_1.jpg

Here's where my decision to start the second colony really bit me in the ass. We're stuck paying an extra 4 ducats a month, and I know for a fact that the other colony is close to finishing, so I don't want to abandon it. But, I will give this bit of a spoiler about that decision: mistakes were made.

20170601202353_1.jpg

As we move in to kick the Portugese in their teeth, I wanted to show you my explorer, who I have had for a good 50 years at this point. I was starting to think he was one of the rare "immortal" leaders, who couldn't die due to some error in the math. He died, unceremoniously, a few years later.

20170601202422_1.jpg

This is an event I had been waiting for. By paying a small price, I'm finally able to make my merchants not hate my guts, meaning developing colonialism is much easier now!

20170601202530_1.jpg

And since getting their loyalty above 60 was out of the picture for 10+ years, we took some money from them. Better than yet another loan!

20170601202628_1.jpg

Here, we see the native portugese in their natural habitat. Unaware of the approaching pack of Zoroafricans, they foolishly let themselves stay separated.

20170601202636_1.jpg

By the time they notice, it's too late.

20170601202646_1.jpg

Their numbers are diminished, allowing for a single blow to end them.

20170601202650_1.jpg

See, I told you it'd finish soon. But, still, the other colony was a mistake.

20170601202659_1.jpg

A loan 1 stack had gotten in the way of the swarm of Zoroafricans. Now their bones are bleaching in the sun.

Unfortunately, our heir died a while ago, and we are left without an heir, and our king is a complete fossil.

We also made mil our focus, to make sure we don't get smashed.

20170601202833_1.jpg

Spain keeps dropping off small stacks, so we erect a small army of elite mercs to combat the smaller armies. Remember how I chose the institution spread ability over the merc. discipline? Really, REALLY regretting that choice right about now

20170601202914_1.jpg

You never have the right advisers when you need them. So we end up canning the fort defense guy, he's the textbook example of useless.

20170601202931_1.jpg

We outnumber Spain 3-1 here, and we're STILL at a disadvantage. NEVER underestimate the power of Crusades!

20170601202937_1.jpg

This is bad. I mean, really bad. Spain already has a 17k stack on my mainland, and I cannot contest with it. Adding another 10k, when my main army is out of position? Recipe for disaster.

Our smaller stack makes a tactical charge towards lake Victoria. By happenstance, there aren't any enemies there. It's not a retreat, it's a tactical assault AWAY from our enemies!

20170601202954_1.jpg

I was really, REALLY happy to see we were getting ticking warscore from killing all those tiny stacks. If this were anything else, this would be a TERRIBLE war for us. Plus, look at how much disparity there is in our troop counts! o_O

20170601203021_1.jpg

We got ourselves a morale adviser, effectively cancelling out the immediate effects of the crusade! :D

The iberians still have better weapons than us, though.

20170601203412_1.jpg

Ummm... what happened to that 10k stack? I mean, not that I'm complaining, I'm just concerned is all...

20170601203957_1.jpg

For those of you wondering why I'm so scared of Spain, here's your reason. Spain's NIs are VERY well suited for war, ours are well suited for absolutely nothing at all. They have almost finished offensive. We have almost finished religious, and are 3 ideas into exploration. That's it.

So yeah, all those military bonuses are pretty apparent right about now. On one hand, I'm glad this is giving me a challenge, but on the other, I do miss even the slightest military bonus. Oh well, that'll be dealt with by future me.

20170601204419_1.jpg

And here, we have a major conundrum. Our capital is being sieged, but we have no feasible way to stop them from taking it. Any attack would be repelled without Spain breaking a sweat. We're really, REALLY close to tech 12, though. If our capital can hold out until September, we'll be nearly ready to take on Spain! (drawback of having 18 merc infantry, 21 infantry in total, is that upgrading the unit absolutely TANKS our morale)

20170601204505_1.jpg

22 day siege ticks. That's... I mean... HOLD OUT, MEN!

20170601204524_1.jpg

JUST A FEW MORE MONTHS, MEN! Try dying in front of the breach, maybe they'll get stuck on the pile of bodies and leave!

20170601204610_1.jpg

ONE MORE MONTH, MEN!

My luck here was unreal. I'd go get a lotto ticket, but knowing me, I used up all my luck for the day right here.

20170601204630_1.jpg

WE MADE IT! We finally have guns, too! Now we just need morale to fight!

Uh, men in the capital? Can you hold out for another few months? Pleeeeease?

20170601204722_1.jpg

Oh my god they did!

20170601204838_1.jpg

Come on men, ONE MORE TIME!

20170601204849_1.jpg

Dammit!

20170601204930_1.jpg

We're still low on morale, so we're ready to back off if Spain comes marching towards us. Unfortunate that we lost the capital, but at least it was only worth 9 WS.

20170601205245_1.jpg

Unfortunately, while we were looking into the capital situation, our western holdings were invaded. But, we have a cunning plan...

A rebel bomb... that failed to pop up in the right place. Double dammit!

20170601205421_1.jpg

However, now that we've cheesed off the nobles, we're able to make a more... targeted bomb. Just revoke the province, and... BAM!

20170601205429_1.jpg

A rebel bomb landed right on Spain's army! Whoops, sorry about that, Spain, that was a complete accident ;)

20170601205437_1.jpg

But even THAT doesn't phase them! I think they only lost about 600 men from that tactic.

20170601205830_1.jpg

Meanwhile, the religious leagues have started up.

20170601205857_1.jpg

While we had been retaking our capital, Spain started carpet sieging our land. So we tried to pick off the small stacks to weaken their forces.

20170601205931_1.jpg

Unfortunately, we were caught mid-maneuver

20170601205937_1.jpg

HURRY, KILL THEM BEFORE THEY REINFORCE!

20170601205948_1.jpg

They reinforced, and we fled before we shattered.

20170601205953_1.jpg

Still have ticking warscore, though!

20170601210029_1.jpg

FOR THE LOVE OF...! :mad::eek:

20170601210229_1.jpg

Great, just great... Going for Kilwa. AGAIN.

20170601210306_1.jpg

And their main force is RIGHT THERE, TOO!

Things are going from worse to on fire.

20170601210528_1.jpg

They merged into one deathstack, which makes them take some decent attrition, at least.

20170601210549_1.jpg

While we retook our land with, you guessed it, more mercs, our main force ran up the coast to try and pick off that smaller stack, knowing full well that it was a trap. If we can get that smaller one smashed before the main force arrives, we MIGHT be able to break them slowly.

20170601210611_1.jpg

When it rains, it pours. It's just 3k, but at this point, all of iberia may as well be here.

20170601210849_1.jpg

HERE WE GO! ONCE MORE INTO THE BREACH, MEN!

20170601211003_1.jpg

But, unfortunately, we couldn't kill them in time.

20170601211038_1.jpg

We had to flee, and we unfortunately lost our ticking warscore.

Time to find that smaller stack!

20170601211254_1.jpg

Go for the goal!

On a side note, I hate how the AI will sometimes use their clairvoyance to avoid your army. Here, they should have NO idea where my army is, but they know that they need to get out of my land, and into the untamed jungle.

20170601211546_1.jpg

While we fight for our own religious freedom, so does Germany!

20170601211558_1.jpg

Pretty solid reformation, too!

Now, here's something that was a real blessing. Spain took Lindi and made their deathstack, but refused to move it. Meaning they were eating attrition by the shovelful! Unfortunately, this was the biggest source of losses for them (not our armies, but their incompetence), and the crusade offset them anyways :(

20170601211808_1.jpg

MORE SPANIARDS?! I was kidding about the "everyone in iberia may as well be here" thing!

20170601211929_1.jpg

We can't even get a single province yet! Close, but not yet!

20170601211950_1.jpg

Our forces were split, to take back our land from the rebels, so we engaged with half of our army! Hold the line!

20170601212005_1.jpg

The line was held :D

20170601212025_1.jpg

BEAT THEM BACK!

20170601212048_1.jpg

And crushed their remaining men

20170601212138_1.jpg

Unfortunately, that battle had kicked the deathstack out of their siesta, and had them barreling towards us! At least they're eating constant 5% attrition on the way.

20170601212725_1.jpg

Before we could face that threat, we signed a 7 year peace. Portugal now only has one landlocked outpost in S. Africa, and more importantly, they are no longer allied to Spain. This means that our next war will be mano y mano (that's spanish for "without any filthy cheating spanish involved") ;)

20170601213021_1.jpg

We made it! Even though it was unexpected, we won a small victory!

The reason we kept the Portugese enclave is so we can get a neighbor bonus on tech, once we're all caught up, that land is Zoroafrica's!

I hope you all enjoyed this super long chapter, the fact that this one chapter covered only a single decade should tell you as to how closely that was was fought!

Where we left off last chapter, we were desperately trying to get colonial Brazil up and running, so we could get SOME colonialism spread.

I really don't get why you aren't developing for colonialism in capital gold mine. It's worth it, just to stay up to par in tech. And it pays itself back after, when you tech up to dip tech 9 and use spy network to tech up cheap right before 1550 hits.

War taxes were never used again, they cost more in terms of points than they're worth in cash.
merc cost and maintenance and reinforcement cost is no longer influenced by land maintenance modifiers, which is why you don't get lot of benefit.

Here's how our tech stacks up. I'm a tech behind in military, which is devastating due to the tech level. Infantry fire AND tactics make 12 a HUGE tech.
The colonizers will ALWAYS go for the gold :) So better stay up to par in tech!

Anyhow..

WHY didn't you seperate peace out Spain after getting ticking warscore? You could have released an inland nation in the Kongo to get them out, and Portugal would have ceded lot more, and you would have had lot less trouble.

;)

SPAIN! How unexpected
A Spanish inquisition joke never fails to amuse.

While we fight for our own religious freedom, so does Germany!
Such a weak Catholic League, Austria's going to get smacked so hard. Great how you were able to survive the Iberians too, now all you need is just go bankrupt and after that it's just resuming business (don't forget colonising is impossible while bankrupt).

Chapter 6.5: The Loan Ranger Hangs Up His Hat

Now that we're at peace, we have a few things we NEED to do. But, there is something that is brightening our day.

20170601213427_1.jpg

Portugal is in two wars, and losing to Mali. With any luck, they'll lose more of their land in northern Africa!

20170601213639_1.jpg

And while I did hint at it before, we HAD been spending most of our admin and dip points in developing colonialism. @atwix, the reason I was so focused on getting a CN to help spread it was due to the sunk cost fallacy, but I did get Butua developed rather well, 15 production gives it a small chance of depleting the gold mine, but I've run numerous tests, and that event seems to only happen once, and only happens reliably after getting past 20 production.

20170601213653_1.jpg

We took a few more loans to get the funds needed to embrace it. We're now able to get tech for a lot cheaper now! But...

20170601213743_1.jpg

This was pretty funny to me. We already have 43% inflation, 3% more is hardly worth an event.

20170601213801_1.jpg

Portugal is no longer our rival, so we're able to make new rivals! I wonder who's available to us?

20170601213818_1.jpg

HA! Very funny, game. Very funny.

Also, we took our a few more loans to build actual units, ones that use manpower instead of merc. power.

20170601213947_1.jpg

We're going to be biting the bullet now, while we have a truce with the iberians.

20170601214012_1.jpg

Those are some nasty modifiers, but they only last for 5 years now, so they're manageable. I used the ledger to develop some provinces with our remaining dip, then committed.

20170601214018_1.jpg

We're bankrupt for 5 years, but hey, we're making mad dosh now! :D

20170601214240_1.jpg

And we even get a bonus for our dip tech! Just what we needed, seeing how it's pitifully far behind everything else! If only we had points... And the printing press... :(

20170601214406_1.jpg

Here's a look at our rebel situation. Thanks to having NO legitimacy and negative stability, a LOT of provinces get small amounts of unrest. While I'm not going to bother with the legitimacy situation, due to having no heir AND no consort, I AM focusing on getting back to 0 stability.

20170601214505_1.jpg

More Kongolese rebels. Unfortunately, with our terrible morale, and lack of manpower growth, we have to leave them be until we are no longer bankrupt.

20170601214537_1.jpg

And some particularists rise up as well. At least they're contained in the south.

20170601214603_1.jpg

Now, this is a good event. It lowered our unrest to just below 0, ending the ticking "internal conflicts" disaster, and it also made our merchants like us, so we can get cracking on developing the printing press soon enough!

20170601214724_1.jpg

Bumping up that stability on the cheap, thanks to those modifiers!

We've also been spending our extra cash on rooting out corruption, so hopefully we'll be at 0 within a few years of getting out of bankruptcy.

20170601215146_1.jpg

Our truces with the iberians are up, and we still have a year to go before we're back at full force.

However, I did make a bit of a bet on this. Portugal was always the one declaring, even though Spain had a CB for Kilwa. So I figured that Portugal would be the one declaring another war. Which means that so long as they're separated, Portugal will be too weak to declare on me. So I, theoretically, should be safe for at least one more year.

However, it also left me open to Spain DOWing me, so like I said, it was a gamble.

20170601215153_1.jpg

And now Portugal is losing to Bahmanis as well. They already lost their provinces near Mali, so all they have left are a few islands, and the enclave in S. Africa. Easy pickings.

20170601215201_1.jpg

They even have revolts, AND have lost some land to Morocco! Go Morocco! Kick them out! :D

The fact that Spain and GB are fighting is also a good sign, we should be safe.

20170601215231_1.jpg

Despite having vast superiority, the Protestant league failed to force the Empire into protestantism, meaning any christian could be the next emperor.

20170601222714_1.jpg

On April 4, 1568, Zoroafrica recovered from bankruptcy, meaning we're free to deal with the rebellions... and a few other things as well.

20170601222944_1.jpg

I love it when our rebels kill our enemies. It's almost like they like us or something! :)

20170601223000_1.jpg

As you can see, we're ready for mil tech 13, when cannons become useful in the fields of battle.

20170601223013_1.jpg

Thanks to reinforcements (and my purchasing several buildings), we needed to take a single loan, but it got paid off swiftly.

I hope you enjoyed this mini-chapter, I didn't think bankruptcy deserved a whole chapter, so I made it short and sweet. Next, we're fighting the Portugese, and making our way up the coast, towards our main goal.

i gotta say sorry, my comment was too harsh.

if it makes you feel better: i stacked 100% inflation in my third way Ibadi campaign with Pate, and paid it all off manually in 18th century.
It hampered me for more then 2 centuries I guess..

Inflation is not just a number if you aren't crazy big :(

It hampered me for more then 2 centuries I guess..

Inflation is not just a number if you aren't crazy big :(

Don't worry about it, I took no offense or anything. It was a fair point, based off how I had written things, so I definitely saw where you were coming from.

And 100% inflation... I swear, there needs to be an achievement for that, something to do with the African king who destroyed economies on his way to Mecca.

Chapter 7: North By Northeast

Last chapter, we cleared all our debts and knew how to make colonies real good!

20170602155952_1.jpg

Time to celebrate the only way Zoroafricans know how: Slaughtering the Portuguese!

20170602160021_1.jpg

Portugal is colonizing in the Indian ocean, and we're not gonna let them. We're keeping a close eye on these colonies, we're definitely going to snipe them during the war.

20170602160028_1.jpg

They're also sending a colonist to Mahe, but I don't think we'll be able to swipe that by the time we peace out, it'd probably only be halfway done then.

20170602160046_1.jpg

And now India hates us. YAY.

20170602160718_1.jpg

This is really good, we're building all sorts of buildings, and this also helps us hire mercs. Front line infantry isn't cheap to reinforce!

20170602160829_1.jpg

And, to the northeast, Mombasa is friendless. Tempting...

20170602160953_1.jpg

Ah, our first victims are arriving. Excellent!

20170602161023_1.jpg

Now that those rotten Spaniards aren't here, we outnumber the Portuguese immensely.
20170602161045_1.jpg

Tempting, but I'd rather get decent warscore on Portugal first. Last thing I want to see is a bunch of Spanish condotierri knocking on our door.

20170602161300_1.jpg

Speaking of, we were ambushed while we attempted to siege their colonies in the Indian Ocean!

20170602161305_1.jpg

Damn, looks like we're going to need to send more than a single unit next time...

20170602161418_1.jpg

But, on the bright side, we know where the brunt of Portugal's army is, so we know we can send in these mercs without fear! Diversion tactics, totally planned for, yeah. Totally.

20170602161447_1.jpg

And now, Portugal is heading for the wargoal. But, we're able to take them on, no sweat!

20170602161612_1.jpg

And our old as dirt king died without an heir. But the random noble who took the throne? Absolutely flawless :D

20170602161633_1.jpg

Make that godlike

20170602161804_1.jpg

Back in Iberia, Spain is LOSING to Liege and GB. Looks like a Protestant wind is a-blowin'!

20170602161931_1.jpg

And now they officially hate us. Well, the feeling's mutual, bub!

20170602162354_1.jpg

Portugal had tried to retake the land we sieged up. But, when you roll a 9 to a -2...

20170602162400_1.jpg

You kick them to the curb.

20170602162434_1.jpg

Now we get our third splendor ability: Merc discipline. Because that's a great way to even the playing field with Spain (among other nations)

20170602162548_1.jpg

Now that we have a solid lead over Portugal, it's time to eliminate the Mombasans.

20170602162600_1.jpg

DIE FASTER, MOMBASA!

20170602162605_1.jpg

They died faster. Such good listeners!

20170602162653_1.jpg

We attempted to move our units on to the next island, but Portugal was there, staring at us from across the water. We learned from their mistakes, and decided NOT to invade them.

20170602162807_1.jpg

And we full annex Mombasa, and take their retirement fund (979 ducats!), because they don't need it anymore!

20170602163106_1.jpg

More Portuguese, please. I love free warscore, and Zoroafricans ADORE spilling Portuguese blood!

20170602163211_1.jpg

Oddly enough, Portugal decided to just stand there, and hope we didn't see them among the green stripes.

We saw them.
20170602163224_1.jpg

And we were the last thing they saw.

20170602163304_1.jpg

And what the hell is this?! France, in England?! o_O

20170602163315_1.jpg

Looks like France is gonna put the "B"(BB) in GB

20170602164154_1.jpg

Now, we're able to invade Fernando Po without interference!

20170602164925_1.jpg

And like I thought, France now has a toe hold in England. GOOD, SERVES THOSE SMUG BRITS RIGHT!

I just realized that I hate a vast majority of Europe o_O

20170602165115_1.jpg

Portugal lands. Portugal dies.
20170602170053_1.jpg

This is our peace deal: we took nothing that NEEDS to be cored, only colonies. We could have taken the Azores and that one other island, but we chose not to, due to their remote location. I would NOT be willing to send troops over there to end a rebellion. Later, for sure, but now, not so much.

20170602170120_1.jpg

Here's the peace deal in word form.

20170602171455_1.jpg

And unfortunately, the Iberian alliance has been reforged. Oh well, we just gotta break it again.

20170602171655_1.jpg

And now, we're releasing a vassal, who we're going to feed the east coast to! Between Pate, Mombasa, and Malindi, we chose Malindi because they had cores on the 4 provinces we took.

20170602171712_1.jpg

They also took religious ideas, meaning they'll be able to convert things to Zoroastrian, so we don't have to later!

20170602172339_1.jpg

Remember how I said I couldn't be bothered to send ships to remote islands?

Looks like Cape Verde is now going to be called "Particularist Island" for the foreseeable future.

20170602172516_1.jpg

And now, 30 years later, we have the printing press! And another 15 production gold mine, we're rolling in shekels!

20170602172701_1.jpg

Using the claims we forged ahead of time, we declare war on Adjuuraan. Did I mention that we're not called "Zoroafrica" just because we're in Africa?

IT'S OUR CONTINENT, GEDDOUT!

20170602172842_1.jpg

And we're now officially able to "steal tech", and dip 9 cost a mere 178 mana! Man, I remember the old days of leaving dip tech at 7 for a few centuries, then mass developing techs to get tech 22/23 for the CB. I kinda miss those days, but also kinda don't.

20170602173629_1.jpg

Battles are won with ease, these silly Somalians don't know how to fight!

20170602173727_1.jpg

For our next idea group, we took Offensive. We need the fighting abilities, ASAP. Admin is nice, but that's for a later date, AFTER we're caught up in tech AND finally finish religious!

20170602173906_1.jpg

What's this? Spain? IN MY AFRICA?!:mad::mad:

We WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS! Well, not for long, at least, those colonies are too fresh, and not in good stealing range.

20170602174021_1.jpg

Killing them swiftly. Shoulda stuck to being pirates, boys.

20170602174044_1.jpg

Free claims? Yes please!

20170602174058_1.jpg

And here's another look at our cheap tech. Hefty price in the long run, but man is it sweet to see that low price!

20170602184910_1.jpg

More kills with minimal losses.

20170602185024_1.jpg

We peace out Adal for war reps, and the bullets they didn't get to fire at us, since they're dirt poor. We'll finish them later!

20170602185301_1.jpg

We also peace out Yemen, and their war reps are worth more than their actual cash.

20170602185426_1.jpg

No more armies to fight, time to carve up the coast!

20170602185531_1.jpg

Here's the peace deal. Only people who hate us have truces with us, so who cares

20170602185726_1.jpg

We gave most of our taken land to Malindi, and kept a cheap 1/1/1 province next to Adal and Yemen for later, when we have Deus Vult.

20170602185800_1.jpg

We also FINALLY get our toehold in Madagascar! Next, we take the WHOLE ISLAND! MWAHAHAHA!

20170602185952_1.jpg

Here's a look at the GP screen. We're number 3, we're number 3!

20170602190032_1.jpg

And now we got a god like heir with an average claim! Excellent!

EXCELLENT.gif

I think the game is trying to tell me something. And I think I should oblige ;)

Hope you all enjoyed this chapter!

Solid progress, though PP was very expensive to acquire, probably with a lot of loans? Did you already went bankrupt or not?
