Is there anything in the system that would prevent zoned structures larger than 4x4?

Its long bugged me that resource production, particularly farming, is limited to tiny little 4x4 plots, rather than expansive fields, like in reality. Or, for that matter, like the spiritual predecessor to CS, SimCity 4. I'd love to see more dynamically created farms like in that game, where they could be much much larger than in CS, and could be a great variety of shapes.

Maybe the agent system is more restrictive than how SC4 handled things; I don't know. But given that there's plenty of service buildings larger than 4x4, I'd like to think thats not the problem.

Well, I don't think any of the growable buildings are bigger than 4x4. Would be nice if, say, a district that's set to farming had large plots of farms start popping up in empty space. Can just be aesthetic, doesn't have to be usable.

My question is regarding the technical limitations of the game and what reason is for the decision to limit buildings to 4x4.
