Hello,

First, I must tell you how I enjoyed what you did until now. The game looks awesome.

BUT

It is strange for me to realize that there will be only 2 density levels ?! (low and high). Where is the medium density? I think that it is necessary to make a distinction between them if we want to build realistic cities.

Other question.
Why the taxes system is managed according to the density and not the wealth of the citizen. It is strange and unrealistic in my opinion.

I'd also like to see medium density.

I'd like something in-between small single-family homes and skyscrapers.

I also agree about the taxes. I'd like to see even more options to manage the different income groups than we had in SC4. As it seems now it will be less options in C:S.

But as Sinname said. It can still be changed. And since the developers seem to see this game as a long-term project it can even be changed after release if we players still thinks that it has to be changed.

Medium density is a bit dubious... Playing SimCity 4, i never used medium density because it wasnt needed...

If the game could recreate a smooth transition between high and low densities, then, there is no problem.

Ok, but in a real city, most of the time, there is no high rises beside bungalows. Medium density is essential for a realistic transition.

Remember in the gameplay footage, they ere showing the zone types. Commercial, low and high, residential, low an high, and industrial low an high. They also mentioned something about offices. Maybe, these are the skyscrapers. Maybe all the commercial low and high, is actually just low and medium. The offices are the high density commercial. I don't know, but it might be the case.

I personally don't really like this idea though, because, as we saw in both trailers, there is no medium density residential or industrial.

I am struggling to find the post now, but one CO dev posted earlier about this. Basically low density districts with low income and high population need will turn into medium density areas, whilst with high income + low population they will become nicer villas and one family houses. Don't quote me on this, though, I'm speaking from memory :)

That's a weird setting mich makes no much sense. Many rich and medium class people arround the world live in medium and high height buildings. Just look at any big city. The player should be able to adjust height and density, and the people's class should be related to taxes, land value and proximity of different kinds of services, wether public or private.

Yeah, that doesn't seem like a good solution at all.

If I zone low density I expect it to be small single-family houses, regardless of income.

This is an area where, from what it seems, the developers should re-think.

Density should only be dependent on type of zone and demand. Nothing else.

Low/medium/high income citizens shouldn't matter in that regard. We should however be able to influence what type of citizens moves into a district with taxes and maybe ordinances.

Maybe thats one of the "politics", "laws" or "rules" you can decreed in the anounced districts, like: in Northern District, there can be high skyscrapers, and no small single-family homes, in Eastern District just small single family houses, and so on. Or you set a percentage rule, just like 50% wealthier homes, 50% poor households.
We still did not know much about the form this game is constructed. Maybe in one of the next dev diearies we'll get a bit more information about that matter.

It looks very badly. I mean, there are normal buildings, and there's that one raising in a middle city. Not only that, but it also doesn't fit with its style - it's the only building with glass all over it. It's like going to village without any buildings taller than 10m and building Burj Khalifa there.

I saw in another post from a dev that skyscrapers are plopped. So basically the high density is really the medium density. In fact, they said that they might do their next dev diary in zoning. We did see medium density buildings in the screenshots, trailers and videos.

Well, i think its a very bad idea. High density must be like medium and low density: ''growing''.

I don't wanna play to CitiesXL, I want to play with a real ''old school'' city builder with modern possibilities.
