The more I play (and read the forums), the more I realize that this game is build around Catholic France, with secondary religions of Hinduism, Bhuddism, Islam, and atleast Orthodox Christianity, with the region of Western Europe being build around. The further you stray from the doctrines of Catholicism and the feudal structure of France, the more of the game's flaws just start to stand out. Zealous and a religion accepting of Witchcraft is arguable (see the thread Accepted witchcraft, zealousness and you), but what about a zealous character disliking the VIRTUE of Wise Man? 2021_07_15_1.png2021_07_15_2.png

Wise man, or at least the holy communion decision, is flavored as a somewhat unorthodox approach to religion, so it could be argued that a fundamentalist character might still consider it heresy light even if the mainstream would not, but yeah, I agree, some opinion penalties/bonuses should be functions of the religion's tenets and doctrines rather than static.

For the record, I think that a zealous character should be fine with wise men in this situation, I'm just saying that one could make the argument.

Then how come zealous characters of the faith with the Naked Priests doctrine walk around naked? Isn't that just as unorthodox. Actually, that might be MORE unorthodox, given how only PRIESTS are required to be naked.
I'm just saying that one could make the argument.
You could also argue that this is a flight sim. You'd be wrong (just as you are now), but you could argue it.

This is unfortunately true. Not only do the flaws start to stand out, so does the lack of features for cultures/faiths outside of the Christian and Norse lands.

I think I can recall a thread stating that the decision "meditate in seclusion" can replace traits your faith considers as virtues if you stray from the average christian values. (Which is especially strange for me because meditation isn't something i would assosiate with christianity)

That I can DEFINITELY attest to. Meditate in Seclusion would remove Lustful and add Chaste (and the dialogue box would make it seem to be a good thing) even if your religion has Carnal Exultation, making Lustful a Virtue and Chaste a Sin.
As far as Meditation not being associated with Christianity, what about monks in seclusion illuminating books? And I seem to recall a few branches of Christianity that think meditating in solitude is a good thing.

I myself just wasn't assosiating it with secular rulers of that time.
But I also don't claim to be an encyclopedia on the practices of medeival christian rulers.

This should be reported as a bug, as that should be preventable with triggers.
