So what's the strategy this patch? I started Oirat but every single neighbor had a huge amount of allies and Ming is too strong early game, including your ridiculous vassal Mongolia. I'm at a loss at what to do for this achievement, and what I mean is i know about the Nomad frontier but who do i play to get that much development, who's best for it. Any help is much appreciated.

Ming -> Shan -> Yuan still I expect? Unless something has changed, start as Ming, conquer the lands you need to form Shan and Yuan, unstate everything and either move capital to unstate your current capital region, or release a vassal and give them provinces in your remaining state (Or just go crazy developing shan lands I guess!). Then add the Shan lands as state, make Shan your primary culture and tag switch. Followed by doing the same to form Yuan, achiement done now the world is your oyster, wohoo!

Still working this way. I was lazy (and a little bit angry due to a few fails in other runs), so I did the achievement with Ming to relax a little bit.

This restriction was removed some time ago, there are some tags which aren't allowed to shift into other tags but there are generally ways around that restriction via intermediate shifts.

Chagatai usually doesn’t get allies, and if they do it’s just Uzbek. Build a cavalry focused army (AI hordes don’t do this) than you’ll smash them even if they have superior numbers. If Chagatai gets allies, use reconquer CB on Korchin for Mongolia’s cores but don’t give them to Mongolia. Take it for yourself. Ideally Korchin allies Buratyia then you can take the sweet gold mine, but if not make sure you get a border with them. Eat the Manchu this way.

I think with recent patches you have no hope of getting Mongolia loyal, so once you’re sufficiently powerful enough break vassal, them eat Mongolia in 5 years (Mongolia almost certainly will become a tributary and you’re in no danger of the Manchu eating Mongolia because you’ve already ate them yourself).

Oirat to me is the easiest legitimate start. I don’t do gamey stuff like Ming —> Shan so that’s not for me.

you dont need mongolia loyal... once you become ming tributary THEY WIlL NEVER dow you because of ming! once you become strong enought just devolp your cores in their land and reduce liberty desire of their. this makes them possible to annex.

Personal preference, but that's too expensive for me. I'd rather conquer them and core it than spend mana to develop them low enough. When I conquer China I use vassals to diplo-annex the extremely expensive land so I'm already going to be throwing away thousands of bird mana.

actually when you think of it if you devolp your cored lands that belongs to vassal you dont incrase diplo annexion cost... you can test it as timur all your vassals cost 0 diplo points to annex . even if you devolp their provinces

Yeah but it’s still spending mana you otherwise wouldn’t be. The amount of admin it takes to core all of Mongolia’s land is really not significant.

I finished it last patch from a Mongolia start.
Switch your syncretic faith and Ming will support independence. Take Buryat as a vassal through war, conquer the Manchus and start eating Korea, before heading west.
Fight your battles on flatland and Ming gets wiped easily. If you wait until they have a regency before breaking tributary status you'll get a bit of time before they declare. Keep the war going until they have the unguarded northern border and they will never again be a threat
