I wouldn't recommend Arumba. In a recent video, he called someone a 'faggot' and then told his viewers that it was their fault if they felt offended by his use of this word. If you can put up with this kind of arrogance, ignorance and bigotry then I guess that's up to you. Personally, I'm surprised that Paradox would want someone who uses this kind of language to promote their product.

You are offended becouse someone used long established insulting word. It's ridiculous. You don't have more important problems? It's obvious that you don't necessarily need to hate homosexuals to use word "faggot". You can use it just out of habit.
And even if he really don't respect homosexuals he has every right to express this verbally. We have free speech but it looks like that for some more radical leftist free speech is only for people who share their views and any opossition shouldn't even have right to tell anything. It's typical liberal hypocrisiy - they pretend to be great defenders of minorities and free speech but they want people to be ideologiccaly homogenous (all must be liberal!), and are opressing conservative and/or christian minorities. Isn't flaming part of the moba experience? Using the word "faggot" is pretty common in lol. During the time i used to play lol, i often heard the word "faggot" in voice, especialy often used by my german team mates and i find it rather amusing, because the word itself (not the meaning of it) is just so silly (as a non native english speaker).

I agree. Personally I find it a bit weird to get worked up so much over a swearword. I understand why people would be offended by someone using the word "faggot" as an insult and they have every right to be offended. But in the end it's still just a swearword, similar to every other sexually charged swearword.
If you are offended, maybe just tell them that. Say that you don't like them using that word and explain why you feel that way. Maybe you will even get them to stop using it if your arguments are good. Declaring someone to be the "worst person ever" because they used a swearword you don't like is just a huge overreaction.

It's a long establish insulting word because once upon a time being homosexual was seen as a bad thing and people made a derogatory term for it. Without context the word is insulting to homosexuals because of this history of the word. The word has no other meaning. I watch some of Arumba's videos and he seems like a nice guy and I'm willing to buy his explanation that he doesn't mean it in a derogatory way but just a put down. So I'll allow him that it's not offensive, it's just stupid to use it, when you do what he does.

Also free speech doesn't mean you are free from consequences. I don't see anyone calling out for him to not be allowed to say what he does, just that there should be consequences and that they won't watch him anymore. Which they are of course free to do and say.

On topic. I do look forward to watching Quill play the game. I didn't expect I could get so much enjoyment out of watching others play games, but I find that for some games it works really well. If you find the right people playing.

For me personally, this is less about taking offence and more about ignorance and bigotry. He knew that what he said could be offensive to some people and he could easily have picked a different word. His defence afterwards is pathetic, as is his assertion that it is fine to use the word and that he will keep on using it.

You are correct that Arumba has every right to express that he doesn't 'respect homosexuals'. I have no intention to tell him how to run his channel. However, I can take the choice not to watch and also warn others about his content.

I didn't say that anyone has to agree with me. Each to their own. Make your own choice about what you find acceptable and what you don't.

That's really odd because I feel exactly the opposite. Arumba is all about min-max play and playing around with the numbers. I find Quill18 and Shenryyr actually role-play.

I thought it was a fairly common perception that Arumba is a mechanics man. If you've ever watch Quill18 and Shenryyr, you'd notice that they don't min-max and tend to get into the role-playing. A good example of the difference is in the Tac-Team series with Arumba and Shen where the two of them (at least at first) used to get into heated discussions about optimal decisions versus role-play (e.g. Arumba wanted to form GB with Scotland whereas Shen was adamant that they should stay as Scotland).

I think swearing is a bit different to this but also I do accept that people make mistakes and say things that they regret in the heat of the moment.

I don't know man. I think homophobic slurs are lame and I don't like watching videos wherein people use those words all the time like they're cool and edgy. It's extremely grating and off-putting to me (hard to find something that's less pre-pubescent), and that's got nothing to do with 'offense'.

And? If you have the feeling of being offended, then yes, generally that is your "fault". Because you are the one being offended. That doesn't mean that there's absolutly no justification to being offended by that word.
It's also relevant to what Arumba said before, namely that he uses the word as a general insult. It doesn't mean "gay person" to him, but is just a general insult to him. Which means that he doesn't aim to offend anyone by using that word.
And since Arumba doesn't intend to offend people using the word. If you are offended then that's not because Arumba aimed to actively offend you by using the word, but rather you just being offended by him using the word.
Personally I am also not a great fan of people using the word "faggot" and I can absolutly understand why it would offend certain people. But I also know that people grow up using certain swearwords and those words don't universally have the same meaning. It's ok to be offended by someone using a word you don't like, but you shouldn't assume malicious intend behind someone just using the words they grew up using, because it's very likely that they mean something different to them then they mean to you.
