Yeah I've noticed that, but I feel like a newbie player would right at home because Quill18 isn't too great of a player, and he's still learning too. I don't know, that's just how I felt and how learned to play EU4 actually, from Quill18.

I also learned from him. It is how I discovered him and started following his channel. Still, he is so slow paced and not that great in the game that you might want to look elsewhere if you want to watch EU4 specifically. But Quill plays a lot of different games, so one might to check him out just for that.

If you were impressed with Jaeke's Naguar, then his great khan run would impress you too. I was like really amazed how he managed to win the first wars against Oirat and Manchu I think, with a tiny army. It was glorious.

Sending diplomats for double improve relations is NOT an exploit. Why?

Purely economical reasons. Put your self in the position of a country you are improving relations with. When they see that your diplomat is going to stay for only 10 days or so they are more then happy to give you double relations improvement, because they will spend less on food for that diplomat. Simple as that.

In the end though, I enjoy finding and displaying exploits in this game. For my exploits magnum opus, I recommend Minghals

I'm watching Minghals right now. Seriously, everyone... you owe it to yourself to watch that just to see what happened to his heirs. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time.

I know he's been mentioned a couple of times here already, but I have to give a shout out to Chimpeh, who I stumbled on some months ago. He's been doing this for a while, but for some reason has very low subscribers and little discussion going. This guy is very good and seems to play the game fairly straightforward. Chimpeh should really be more popular here.

regardless of exploits or his intentionally gimmicky games for trying out new mechanics, Arumba's good if you are into the details and maths stuff about the game. He geeks over it.

Shenryyr is my favorite, straight forward and keeps it fun. If he uses exploits I haven't noticed - but then again, I view his games like a story and not for advice on how to play the game.

I like Shenryyr, he keeps it real.

Regarding exploits, I'll point out that Shen doesn't do stuff like recalling diplomats on the first to double up relations, but Arumba does (and they talked about it in the TacTeam). What's interesting there, however is that that is not an exploit. Apparently humans are expected to do that, right?:

- AI gets +1 diplomat that it reserves for non-maintained actions because the diplomatic AI 'ticks' means that it can't do the recall-send strategy that players do with maintained diplomats.

I know what you mean, a lot of videos seem to be about 'world' conquest or at least getting big as fast as possible and therefore many use some kind of exploits to do this. AE is meant to make a more realistic and longer campaign, yet people see it as something that needs to be worked arround with vassal feeding etc.

Allthough I also hate it if people make ugly borders, haha, I think I would never be able to play multiplayer, because I would probably try to kill everybody that's gaming the game or makes ugly borders xD

I watch Shen, Arumba, Jake & TMIT. Ill also often pop on twich and see who is playing EU4.

The thing about Jake is yeah he might use exploits and you might not like that, BUT you can still learn a ridiculous amount watching his videos, just look past the occasional exploit he uses. its not the end of the world.

At the end of the day I think what TMIT was trying to say is that there is a huge grey area about what an exploit is. you shoulnt dismiss a whole heap of Youtubers because of something so....vague.

I learnt a lot from watching Jakes Nagaur run.

The one thing I would suggest is try to watch up to date series, the most annoying thing ever is watching old videos with outdated mechanics. Find someone who you like watching and stick with them.

And dont get frustrated when they miss things XD I know personally sometimes I watch youtubers and sob to myself at things they have missed.

Someone who uses a ton of exploits knows more stuff about "legitimate" plays than the vast majority of players out there.
You've added a restriction that doesn't help you learn the game.
The problem with using so many exploits like DDR and Arumba do is that once an update rolls around they better do their homework because otherwise it breaks their entire playstyle.

This sells both of them short. It's not like they rely on certain tactics to do very well. They use them for an extra edge to make the outcomes more impressive.

I think all Wiz meant is that humans recall a diplomat temporarely to use it for other actions, while the AI doesn't. Like, players will always keep their two diplomats improving relations with other nations and when they want to do something else, they recall one to, say, declare a war, but send them to their original mission once again. The AI, meanwhile, always keep one diplomat free to be able to use in whatever.

The problem with using so many exploits like DDR and Arumba do is that once an update rolls around they better do their homework because otherwise it breaks their entire playstyle.

Arumba doesn't even use that many exploits. And virtually none that is the single basis of his strategy. The worst he have done, as far I can remember, was the vassal feeding thing as the HRE, but that was only for one campaign and was the whole point of said campaign at that

jake never faces that problem. He has a rule where he only uses an exploit trick once per Campaign run (at least the big ones like Custom nation cheese).

YouTube recommendations?

Why not me?

What I'm looking for is advanced level gameplay, but straight-up, no exploits, no nonsense - just someone who really knows how to play the game without breaking it. DDRJake &c are quite entertaining, but that's just not how I want to play.
What might also be nice is someone who knows how to edit - I don't really want to sit through 20+ hours, if it can be avoided.

Oh... Nevemind then :p
