Just played my first game of the new 2.3 patch.
I was mexico and got owned by the united states. However, by the end of the game I became a GP and had booming automotive/aeronautical/electrical industries. I also had tanks! Although for some reason when I tried to invade Chile they destroyed me. They actually had nearly 100% literacy and had every tech researched!
Anyway, the game only saw one great war and it was one that I had to sort of "cheat" to make by tag switching. It was me, the USA, Prussia (and our minor buddies) on one side vs. the UK and Italy.
Strangely enough, Russia, who was allied with the UK, ended up DOWing Prussia but they didn't actually join the great war! It was disappointing that it counted as a separate war. Why didn't they just join and add the same wargoal?
Anyway, there was only one great war and the result was lackluster. The UK lost one province in Canada and that was it. They were still the #1 GP in basically every category and stated that way forever. I thought great wars were supposed to be game-changing! Also, another weird thing was that I was never allowed to add a wargoal despite us having like +30% warscore on them for like the whole war. What gives?
What are your experiences or thoughts on the great war mechanic so far?
