I adore the new DLC, especially the new set up that allows us to personalize our game. However I see so many different paths to shape my game right now, so I am curious to see what kind of game people tend to play.

Im just considering to start a game with the vanilla options, except allowing the same status for all woman because I am more leaning towards the roleplaying aspect and the story of the characters, and a story without woman is a boring one. I restrict the cultural and religious conversion and make everything else historic. I also added direct assasination choice as I suck at making complots.

I change around the disease and horde rules from game to game and I'm still deciding whether I actually care for shattered retreat or not but my more static rules that deviate from the default are as follows:

Interfaith Marriages: Open - Makes for interesting options, especially when you're a little guy facing up a wall of muslims or something.
Culture Conversion: Restricted - The spread manner just makes more sense to me.
Vassal Republics/Theocracies: Unrestricted - I think it's an arbitrary limit, though I'm not the gamey type and so I probably wouldn't ever see the limit anyway.
Invitation to Court: Open - Yeah why not?
Assassination: Direct Action - The button is back baby!

I would disable seduction if I didn't have Fixed WOL mod so I do appreciate the option at least.

Defensive pacts were from the patch, not Conclave.

Conclave is one of the best DLCs. I've been wanting actual council interaction for ages. The ahistorical pure meritocracy is finally over.

Dynamic major and minor epidemics.
Historical mongol invasion.
Shattered retreat on.
Defensive pacts on.
Gender equality default.
Supernatural events... on, but I roleplays it as "coincidences".
Dynamic de-jure drift default.
De-jure assimilation duration long (for at least illusion of borders decency).
Culture conversion - combination (melting pots faster, "common" conversion slower, spread through bordering only).
Religion conversion speed slower.
Raiding historical, but I belive it's my mistake, I should set unrestricted (because that's historical for time frame!).
Adventures normal.
Interfaith marriage restricted (to be honest with Conclave it's no-matter - you can just buy a favor from liked woman, invite her with favor use and marry when she is on YOUR court).
Matrilineal marriage on.
Custom realms on.
Story events on.
Vassal republics and theocracies restricted.
Invintations to court open.
Diplomatic range restricted (I feel better don't really having satellite communications through all Europe).
Regencies on.
Province revolts normal.
Defensive attrition on.
Pagan reformation allowed.
Assasinations plot only.
AI seduction and intrigue on.

Everything default except:

Mongols and Aztecs random (because I do like the maximum amount of unpredictability in my games).

Cultures only spread to adjanced provinces, duchy drifting takes 300 years (I don't want the Karlings turning Central Europe into a homogenous blob quite as easily).

Full gender equality (I just like women with good stats being more relevant).

I set everything but culture conversion on default. Culture conversion is set on combination. And i guess that in the future i will play with different plague/aztecs/mongols settings. At first i turned off supernatural events because i hate Child of Satan and Immortality crap, but when i saw that it also turning off lunatic/possessed and various other "supernatural" events that unlike immortality or Antichrist actually have reasonable explanation, i turned it back. I hope that Pdx in future will update supernatural setting with ability to turn off only Antichrist and Immortality, leaving other events intact.

Standard, except:
De Jure drift - Restricted (only bordering)
Culture Assimilation - Restricted (only bordering, eliminates the ugly culture blotches I usually see)
Aztec Invasion - Off
Matrilinear Marriages - Off (sometimes on)

Now, whether or not I use matrilinear marriages depends on how hard I want the game to be. But honestly? It is kind of fun without them. Makes it more challenging and I take a lot more care in producing an adequate number of heirs. Currently 150 years into my Milan->Italy game and there were a few close calls, but it was kind of a thrill. Succession appears secure for now (1 legitimate son, 5 bastards all legitimized), after my agnatic dynasty was wittled down to 2 members (father and son).

Edit: Also, it makes the rise and fall of dynasties a lot more dynamic, since most Christians still are Cognatic-Agnatic, but girls are married off easily despite being high in the line of succession. I saw one kingdom change its dynasty 6 times in 50 years, simply through inheritance. Though that was an extreme case, where only daughters were ever produced.
