1. molluskoid
2. Pacifist, collectivist, spiritual.
3. depends what are available, probably some kind of constitutional oligarchy with an elected parliament type thing.
4. Not federated.
5. Religion isn't in base game (fluff wise though they have a widely accepted religion whereby waste is evil and efficiency is good - getting the most use out of the minimum increase in universal entropy).
6. Stopping Entropy, aka the great destroyer, (physics, some engineering and social)
7. Energy efficient weapons. (though conflict is an inefficient waste of resources so there won't be much focus on voluntary military development).
8. No pic, sorry. Mostly solar sailors for intrasystem. Inter system will be like large webs to catch and gather dust, space debris and the plasma of space itself.
9. Warp. Technology will be developed to harvest the resources of the neighboring universe or dimensions in order to reverse entropy.

End goal: Extinguish all the stars we aren't currently using and make better use of the one's we are. Starlight is a finite resource.

I believe I'll have to honour the author of the first Paradox game IN SPACE! (TM).

0. Terran Confederation.
1. Human, surprisingly enough.
2. Essentially the Star Trek Federation gone corporate and mildly evil. We're mostly in it for money, power, money through power, power through money, and shooting people called Juan Lebedev.
3. Theoretical Democracy, Effective Corporatocracy.
4. Take a wild freaking guess.
5. A primitive superstition, but one we tolerate. Unless it's the freaking Xenoterrans, or the Machine Cult, or the Hive...
6. That which improves the Quarterly Statement.
7. Dunno, Lasers?
8. ISO Standard Human Spaceships.
9. Hyperlane.

0. Aven-Lo Potentate

1. Avian

2. Very warlike species, they are xenophobic because they believe that since they are violent conquers, everyone HAS to be like them. Very ritualistic and honourable and faithfull to their family and ruler.

3. Millitary oligarchy. A council of the greatest warrior clans on the planet, the leader is elected based on martial merit, and only familly members of the chiefs are alowed to serve in the government. The government NEEDS to find an outside threat since the Aven-Lo only know war and if they do not find a common threat they will fight each other once again. They seek to neutralise "threats" and enslave aliens to finance their massive war machine.

4. It is kind of federated. It was united by a great conquerer but each of the great clans has control over its own lands, and the Potentate has no real power within their lands in peace time.

5. Yes they worship a pantheon of warrior gods, and their entire lifes are geared toward serving the familly and to die gloriously in battle, it is the only way to go to heaven.

6. Let the slaves do their science.

7. Kinetic weapons, mostly short range and hard hitting.

8. Spiky, big, and covered in the skulls of anyone who dares stand against the Potentate.

9. Hyperlanes, what will they do when a massive armada if spiky ships covered in skulls pops up in orbit and asks them what they hold dearest, glory or their lifes?

Either:

0. Name: Grand Terran Imperium
1. Race: Humans
2. Ethics: Colelctivist, Xenophobe and Militaristic
3. Government: Monarchy/Military Dictatorship
4. Not Federated, the Imperium is humanocentric and basically "assimilate or destroy", making it very centralized around Earth
5. Official Religion being Higher Christianity, but religious freedom exists
6. Space weaponry and terraforming
7. Weapony: no little fighter ships, instead, the Imperium would battle with large ships, equipped with the latest technology availeble, either ballisiic, plasmatic or everything else
8. Ship design:
TZ-15_shuttle.jpg

9. FTL: Wormholes

Or:

0. Name: Federal Republic of Humanity/Galactic Confederation
1. Race: Humans
2. Ethics: Pacifist, Xenophile, Materialist
3. Government: Democracy/Oligarchy
4. Federated, with many states composing the Nation, and many nonhuman races spread thoughout it
5. No official religion, since some beings doesn't even catch the concept of a religion
6. Social sciences
7. Weapony: Long-distance weapons, and robotic fighters
8. Ship design:
cas-front.png

9. FTL: Warp, most likely

You can add your own of course:
1. What race? - Reptilians
2. Ethics and personalities of your race? - xenophobic, spiritual. Not Xenophobic in the traditional sense but more like the Ur-Quan in Star Control who has vassal empires.
3. Type of government structure/ideology? - Monarchy of some kind. Maybe theocratic
4. Federated or not federated? - Federated in that they have vassal empires.
5. Religious or not religious? - Religious
6. Main focus of your research? - genetic manipulation
7. Your main, favorite weaponry for your fleet? (Laser, missile/ballistics...etc) - macross missiles
8. Ship design? (Sleek? Roundish? To show an example of how your ships to look like, post a picture) - agressive designs like klingon ships
9. FTL of your choice? - warp

What I want this race to play as like the reptilians from David Icke or other conspiracy theories. I will seek out minor civs and genetically manipulate them and then control them. They will be then given their region of control and work as vassals of the empire. Different races will be designed to do different things. This kind of xenophobia, aliens can live and work in the empire but they must be under imperial control. An alien not under the empire is the enemy. That will be my philosophy with this race.

i would be pro-federation so long as I control it completely.

Noticed not too many fans of reptiles in this

My main goal will be to subjugate humanity. I may restart until SOL with humans on it is close to me.

IDK what kind of reptile they will be. I kind of am warming to a race of saltwater crocodiles that live on an ocean world but desert is my main choice. It depends on what planet type affects if you can get different traits.

The United Colonial Alliance
1) Human

2) Pretty neutral on the scale of things. Slightly militaristic, valued trade, industry, and scientific advancement. Due to the nature of their founding, they are against powerful corporations. Extensive laws are in place to ensure corporate power is kept away from politics.

3) the head of executive branch is titled "Protector" and is tasked with protecting the interests of the Alliance. Military Service is mandatory for the position of Protector. Legislative branch is known as the Colonial Council and is open to all citizens. In order to vote, one must either pass a citizenship test, or serve in one of four fields: Education, Science, Medical, or Military.

4) Federated.

5) No official religion.

6) No specific scientific specialization. It depends on the needs of the time.

7) Nuclear Missiles and Ballistic Weaponry are primary, energy weapons are secondary.

8) kind of boxy (much like the OP's example)

9) Worm Hole FTL.

Second game or something will be based off the future of my current CK2 game.
1) The Fylkirate (Human)

2) militaristic and "spiritualist."

3) Military Dictatorship, the ruler bearing a reinvigorated and ancient title known as the Fylkir. He is elected by the generals and governors upon the death of the previous one. He is both head of the empire and its religion.

4) Not federated.

5) Mixed on religion. The state religion is the Reformed Germanic Faith of the Fylkirate. However, despite the emperor being the head of the religion, the state of affairs is conducted in a more secular manner. There is a degree of religious tolerance, so long as it does not conflict with the interest of the state. Part of the exploration of space is fueled by the Fylkirate's desire to find the gods after what they refer to as the "great cataclysm."

6) Fleet and Army tech.

7) Ballistic weaponry.

8) highly aggressive

9) Worm Hole

It would be great if you can have a federation like the Holy Roman Empire in EU4 when you get to the state where members are vassals and I can assign worlds and territory to them

What race will you be playing as? Forgive me if this has been discussed or you think it's too early to talk about such topic, but let your imagination run wild for now since we lack much information.

You can add your own of course:
1. What race?
2. Ethics and personalities of your race?
3. Type of government structure/ideology?
4. Federated or not federated?
5. Religious or not religious?
6. Main focus of your research?
7. Your main, favorite weaponry for your fleet? (Laser, missile/ballistics...etc)
8. Ship design? (Sleek? Roundish? To show an example of how your ships to look like, post a picture)
9. FTL of your choice?

Me.
1. Human (First game)
2. Xenophobic, isolationist, highly militaristic, Industrial.
3. Perhaps a dictatorship. Monarchy would be okay, but limited democracy would be nice too.
4. Least likely to be federated. (Xenophobia)
5. Religious.
6. Engineering.
7. Ballistics. Favoring missiles and good old high caliber cannons.
8. It will look very squarish with parts that look very familiar to us as humans. This isn't how I want it to look, but it's general outline of it.
eve_ships_by_nymain-d38i5c4.png

9. Perhaps lanes or warp. I haven't decided on this yet.
Pretty much exactly the same for me, except non-religious.

In 4X games that don't have the Sol system and Earth to start off on (Looking at you, Space Empires) my faction lore tends to be; Aliens invaded, wrecked Earth. STL sleeper ships were sent off to deep-space to preserve humanity. After lord knows how long, the ships settle somewhere and after [INSERT AMOUNT OF YEARS] industrial base has been established enough for humanity to return to the stars. Also gives me an excuse to play as isolationist, which usually sooner or later ends with some AI declaring on me, giving me the moral high-ground while I purge their space-asses off the galaxy map. :D

Aaand, since I am currently drunk, because someone spiked my tea at the christmas party. (Well, I might have also taken some schnapps...) And inebriation leads to patriotic fervor, I suppose I'll plot on using this formula on creating Space!Finns.

EDIT; Aaand, after that... well... there is only one race of xenos that may live, and I will play as them:

1. Kerbals (I think they'd be fungaloids..?)
2. Ethics..? !!SCIENCE!!
3. Technocracy
4. Whichever leads to more rockets!
5. Ia Ia Jool Ftaghn!
6. Rockets. Explosions. Engineering.
7. ALL of the missiles.
8. Strapped together with struts, duct-tape and all of the boosters.
9. Kraken-Drive

Sol Systems Alliance

Species: Human

Ethos: Based on what I’ve read you get three points to invest in the four ethos categories, I will likely invest as follows -
1. +1 Individualistic
2. +1 Xenophile
3. 0 Neither Pacifist nor Militaristic
4. +1 Materialistic

Internal Government: Either a Republic, Corporatocracy or combination of the two

External Government: Will be willing to create or join a federation in appropriate circumstances

Religiousness: Government itself is secular, but various religions are welcomed or tolerated within the society

Research Focus: A Balanced Approach
1. Society – emphasis on colonization, expansion and economic prosperity
2. Engineering – emphasis on infrastructure (mining colonies, research stations etc) and defense projects
3. Physics – Improving energy efficiency, also gravitational research is always interesting

Weaponry – The best available. I’m sure some combination of shields (energy and physical), nukes, missiles, lasers & Gauss guns will be involved.

Ship Design – Aesthetically pleasing but realistic.

FTL Tech: Leaning towards wormholes based on what we know so far, but may end up going with warp

1. Humanoid, but so far along the genetic path, it's just Splicers now.
2. Respect is the biggest incorporeal item among them, they are xenophiles in many ways. You're more respected the more mixing of your genes and races. The foreign policy is "Meet them with an open palm, all whilst having a dagger in your other fist of steel."
3. Constitutional Monarchy.
4. Nonfederated.
5. Worships themselves, power, respects, and whoever is gene spliced the most while functional. In more religious congregations, preachers will take stimulants to "Hear, see, and feel" (Insert religious figure here).
6. Genetics, xenos, and chemical stimulants. Rarely but surely weapons.
7. Biological. Often contaminating blood and feral-izing people, propaganda/indoctrination, or plain ballistics.
8. Varies between state. Always versatile, I'd say Junkers like a Firefly.
9. Warp Jump.

I have an idea for a felid species that'll pride themselves in manipulating things but rarely participating directly, like they'll see starting a war as crass but not manipulating someone into starting a war, they'll be highly individualistic, extremely curious and generally capricious/mercurial. The other one is an underwater species that has a broad overarching philosophy/religion/form of governance of inner harmony and stillness from which better to observe fundamental universal truths. Ironically maybe they'll be pretty warlike since they figure having everyone either be dead or under their control is the best way to assure harmony long term.

Alright. Now that I'm sober...

Well, as I said earlier, I like to play my empires fairly morally ambiguous.

0. Terran Federation
0.5. Humani generis primum!
1. Human
2. Collectivist, Xenophobic, Isolationist, Militaristic.
3. Socialist Single-Party system.
4. Ironically enough, non-federated.
5. State Atheism.
6. Engineering, Military, Societal.
7. Mass drivers. Rail guns. Gauss guns. Magnets and good old solid projectiles.
8. ISO Standard Human Spaceship
9. I still like the node lines.
10. Flagship's Name: You know, how Starfleet's flagship is always named "USS Enterprise"? In this case, it'll be "TPN Sol Invictus"

You can add your own of course:
1. Your race? Molluscoid - "Nappu"
2. Ethics and personalities of your race? 2 individualistic, 1 materialist... Nappu will be extreme in the individualistic sense. Every Nappu is basically its own entity. Nappu believes in themselves - not in government or any form of rule. They will be sluggish race, a little bit like Hutts from Star Wars (altough not as big and not as lazy :D)
3. Type of government structure/ideology? Absolute capitalism - Nappu believes only in their own exploits. They also believe that highest goal in live should be wealth. Through wealth you can gain everything.
4. Federated or not federated? Not necesarrily.
5. Religious or not religious? Religion for Nappu is only a book of old trading principles - let's call it "Rules of wealth"
6. Main focus of your research? Social and engineering mostly - everything should be practical.
7. Your main, favorite weaponry for your fleet? (Laser, missile/ballistics...etc) Rockets! Rockets for everyone! Nappu will be trying to fight from a far - so rockets are naturally their weapon of choice.
8. Ship design? (Sleek? Roundish? To show an example of how your ships to look like, post a picture) Roundish - but it does not really matter.
9. FTL of your choice? Warp - freedom of movement!

Yah know. Looking at some of these space ship designs I see one double sided dildo and one prostate massager. But that might just be the sexual frustration speaking.
