Like you said, this isn't a Victoria system, this sort of complexity would only make new players even more confused. I don't know a single person who plays Victoria, but at least some who play HoI. Why they don't play Victoria? Too little fun, too much micro-management. Mixing a grand-strategy scale WWII wargame with "Industry Tychoon" is not my idea of fun anyway.

I've not said to indroduct an industrial system as "complex" as the Victoria one (through I think that the industrial system of Victoria is not complex at all).

But something a bit more deeper than the actual system should be nice.

Mhm, sure, I can understand that, I, OTOH, thought it was, especially if you compare with the other Paradox games. However, what is the main thing here is that HoI2 is a new computer game, which means the guys at Paradox most likely want it to sell big too. Now, if I was one of those guys working at Paradox right now, I would do everything in my power to keep the complexity level at aprox. HoI standards, maybe a tad higher, but not much. You see, just selling the game to everyone that has already played HoI and Vicky may be a piece of cake, but, and this is my main objection, there are way way more buyers out there. And Paradox will need them to make some money on this game. I, for one, hope that Paradox will continue to make grand-strategical games that are as fun to play as HoI (and to some degree Vicky), but for that to happen they need to make money on this. That's the grey simple truth.

Or at least my two cents... ;)

Dont get me wrong, I love CK and Vicky but they are NOT good mp games. So far HoI works extremley well in mp thats why I dont want to see it move closer to its brothers, gameplay would be way to slow.

To be honest, HoI isnt a sp game anymore, well with some off the mods it works pretty good. Perhaps the battle scenarios will be enough for all sp players.

Yes, HoI2 will be all about rising Rommel's children and finding suitable bride...

"Erwin, I'm your father!"

"NOOOOOO!"
Then your raving lunatic liege will attempt to rebuild the glory that was Babylon and have a large number of his vassals assassinated. Sounds at all familiar? Perhaps HOI2 and CK will be more alike than we know... :D

I think that almost all of the people plays paradox games in single player, and a lot of people never plays them in multiplayer mode. Even those that plays them in multiplayer, plays them more in SP. Thus I find that focusing in MP in detriment of SP is a grave error.

My greatest fear concerning the game is that it doesn't bring in enough cash for paradox to keep going.

My greatest fear regarding the game itself is that the US won't be beatable.

My biggest fear is that they will implement an assumption just to cripple the aggressiveness of the player. I'm hoping that they will stick to trying to make the AI a bit more challenging instead.
The assumption being that a province loses 2\3 rd's of its productivity when taken over by the enemy, and virtually all available manpower.

I must admit that I have trouble seeing why this is such a bad assumption. Do you really believe that occupied provinces have anything approaching their productivity as part of their original homelands, or that they provide recruits for the occupiers' armies?
Seems quite reasonable to me.

I think I can live with anything else, as long as

1.) Excessive Micomanagment is eliminated. (This includes anything that remains of the HOI 1 air force and convoy systems.)

2.) Non-deterministic history is supported. (What if Turkey joined the Axis? Or Argentina? I want events too, damnit!)

3.) Make those diplomatic options MATTER. I better have a damn good reason to attack someone instead of ally with them.

What I fear most is that it's too simple (like Crusader Kings). It's fun only for two weeks. Complex game doesn't have to mean it's all abou micromanagement, but we need to have lot to do in game.

Thats what I was waiting for..... Again, their is a hughe diffrence betwen "paradox games" and "paradox HoI". I like that the other games are sp friendly but do you really have to make HoI that? I fear that if you focus more on sp then the game will be way much slower(micro=colour of the fuhrers socks etc.) and a slower game will kill mp HoI, only leave EU left to play.

Look at all you already know about the game: does it look like it has been substantially simplified from HOI?
You won't be bored. ;)

Now now...

I`d reckon that that is covered with the combat scenarios.

HOI is MP friendly, but is not actually an MP game a`la Counter strike or anything of the sort.

The HOI Grand Scenario should take AT LEAST eight hours to finish in my opinion. (Playing a medium power like Italy)

So all hotheads can scroll up the Battle of the Bulge, Winter War, D-Day, Eastern Front or any other combat scenario and play that.

And those who wish to enjoy a full HOI war in Multiplayer just have to split the gaming over two or three days.

My fear? The map will be similar to the Vicky's one - at least beta screenshots look familiar. So a beatiful but useless "standard" map mode (i.e. with background which is MEANT to inform about the type of terrain, but generally you can't get even so basic information, as which nation occupies an area). And rivers! They should be done like in HoI1, acting as barricades against hostile armies, not as eye-candies which do not have any gameplay effects.

EDIT: the screenshots I've seen show only "political" map mode - so other modes remains a mystery for now

There seems to be a whole batch of mapmodes, so I don't think you'll need fear that there won't be enough information on the map for you. :)

I think it's just the other way around. Battle Scenarios are aimed for MP, since they are short and can be played in a single game session. And in the battle scenarios, the most complex features of the game (production, research, diplomacy) don't come into action.
