Besides obvious 'send exploring fleet and lose it instantly in the middle of the ocean' I recently had particularly idiotic mistake :D

Ottomans, Ironman, first ever Muslim + first ever Ironman + first ever AOW game, I am conquering everything nice around 1470, I reduced Byzantium to OPM Greek island, finally I decide to invade it.

Forgot about truce.

I have absolutely no idea how I managed to do that despite warnings and actually declare war and only THEN notice -5 stability hit and giant coalition forming against me, it was even more idiotic because it was first time ever I did that and obviously in Ironman.

Result:

between 1470 and 1500 I had chain of 3 huge wars against - in various combinations and coalitions - Austria, Venice, Bosnia, Wallachia, Ragusa, Cyprus, Mamluks, Aq Qounlyu, Ramazan, Qara Qounlyu, Georgia, Circassia, Karaman, Fezzan, Castille, Aragon, Naples, Tuscany, Papal State, Switzerland, Hungary, Wurzburg, Saxony, Brandenburg, Genoa, Haasa, Hansa, Munster and few other minor countries.

The final result was nice as I emerged as major world power during these wars, but in the first one there was a moment half of my European land was occupied and I was close to ragequit :D

What about you? :ninja:

Sometimes when I played long nights I was like toying with the cursor, hovering over Declare war button on countries I had no actual plans to go to war with. Then I accidentally just pushed the mouse button. Like why the hell did I do that lmao.

I've done the "lite" version of forgetting a truce quite a few times: accidentally declaring a no CB war. For example, fabricate claim, forget it isn't done yet, then DoW without noticing the lack of CB.

Me - a little bit tired.
Decides to start playing as OPM in HRE.
Thinks - with the way how rival now works, I will have problem getting allies that will help me.
Best way to go out of this? Day 1 No CB DoW in neighbouring country.
What could go wrong, lol? :D

Well in my Native American game I was under attack from Powhatan as Susquahennok. Powhatan had me and my ally Iroquois defeated in battle and went to siege my capital. Only thing is that he assaulted the fort, lost all of his morale and I stack wiped his 8 stack with my 1 (Which had half morale). Epic fail from the AI, just thought I'd share.

Biggest fail I've done in EU4 is I managed to lose a war as France.

i made my 21 yo 0/1/2 heir die in battle on purpose so i might generate a better one. playing as brandenburger, 2 provinces from forming germany, year 1510s.
my heir died, and i was litteraly heirless for over 30 years, so my king dies at age +75 with no heir resulting becoming Austrias bitch/ personal union under habs.
so for over 120 years i waged 6 independence war each time failed, france and bohemia aided me several times, but... austria was way too strong, and had greater prussia and spain as allies.

Austria in 1550 was larger than historical austria of 19th century.

Declaring war against the Oirats with military access as Japan. Damn, I got -5 stab hit. Everything was going well and suddenly this happens. So frustrating, I wasted nearly 400 ADM power just to recover the -3 stability.

My favourite mistake was when EUIV first came out. I was playing as France and I had this plan to bring down the Ottoman Empire and restore Greece to the Byzantines (I was going to force them to release them). So I got control of the Curia and called a crusade... which nobody but me joined. I had an army of about 50,000 men and a huge fleet. I waited for the right moment and declared war on the Ottomans, got my fleet and army over there, split my army in half and had 25k troops sieging Athens and another 25k sieging Morea. All was quiet, no Ottoman army, so I figured they got pwned by Mamluks or something.

Send half my army to besiege Crete. At this point my fleet, which I forgot to micromanage, is pretty much entirely lost to attrition due to being so far away from home. Half my army stuck in Crete... 30k Ottoman stack wipes out my army in Athens. Can't rescue my army in Crete due to no navy. War exhaustion going up, treasury going down. Bankrupt. Humiliating peace deal. Nothing whatsoever gained, everything lost.

Hahah, ye don't mess with Ottomans. :ninja:

The "Forget to micromanage fleet/sudden wipe" as well as "Superior numbers but no morale/sudden wipe" things happened to me a number of times as well lmao, got a 20k army beat by inferiors because I forgot to recover morale. <_>
And something that always happened before and now in EUIV as well: Because I pretty much always play land-based Ottoman campaigns, I rarely use my battle fleet (only transport fleet) so I minimise fleet expenses. Then when I need to use it in war, I never remember to increase fleet expenses...

This one is brilliant :D

I also had many cases of 'zero military expenses and rebels appear, I am too lazy to wait for morale so let's attack rebels - hey I have super army' only to lose absurd numbers of men in lost battles :D

By the way, I am ashamed over naming this thread MOST FUNNY/STUPID instead of FUNNIEST/STUPIDEST :( can any moderator change it?

In one of my playthroughs, I learned to always make sure that after detaching mercenaries from my main stack, I disband those 3k mercs, not 90k regular army, especially if my manpower equals 0 and treasury is empty.

i once made my country a vassal to my war target, because i was busy in offer window. I even gave them all my gold. Yeah, I was tired. I thought i was asking them to become my vassal and i was wondering why they had so much gold.

I do remember i was glad i could vassalize war target in one go.

The next thing i did was: "wait, what?" And ragequit to bed.

Two things: First: I got a terrible 40 years old heir (2/0/1)(the king was only a few yars older) and I hoped he would die. I waited a few years and when the event finally came I had forgotten how terrible he was and I spend money on saving him. He survived and ruled until he was 67.
Second. I send all my transports and heavies to the new world to fight some proto-mexican nation. After my troops landed I used them to blockade but totally forgot about the build up time at sea attrition. I barley got them home in time. Even the heavies had 5-1% health left.

Guys, I am really embarrassed to admit this but sometime when I make a boo-boo while playing ironman I pause, alt-tab and ctrl+alt+del steam. Am I terrible person?

It´s a cheat. Ultimatedly you play as you desire, but yes, it is cheating.

Even then the new version does introduce many stuff and you can often screw things a lot until you learn them... I certainly screwed up bad in my Poland game. Bloody lollards...
