  • Hearts of Iron III: Their Finest Hour
So question is simple what are the mods you are expecting the most ?

To me I have two.

-One that will add hundreds of event to HoI IV as HoI have always been poor iin events.
-One that will add more research and extend them up to 1948/1950... As they really sortened the list of research to make the game more casual and forced us down to 1945... I feel this should be lifted up...

1) Research already goes to 1948
2) I don't see how shortening the research tree would equate to "casual"

My 3 most awaited mods in that order are:

  • WW1 mod
The tech tree already goes up to 1948, which is sufficient for games that goes into the 60'. Overall, a new 1948 plane that you researched probably wont be out in large numbers until 1949/50. By then you will probably already be pretty much done anyway, unless you play minors and see how far you can go. By 1948 the main WW2 should most likely already be concluded and at that point it is basicly just painting the rest of the map into your color as germany, since you are basicly unstoppable now.

A lot of these comments are based on whats seen in the WWW so things may have already been changed rendering them not necessary

  • Unique equipment for each nation
  • Something to correct the way fuel is handled for ships
  • More realistic annexation results (e.g. dissent)
  • Leaders having limits to numbers of troops they can control Perhaps more ranks
  • China and Soviet improvement mods so they don't fall like a house of cards
  • Something to correct naval combat (sorry to be negative but i'm assuming some things may be wrong e.g. Carrier TFs closing with SAGs, Fleet AA not protecting attacked ships)
  • Better implementation of world tension and its effects on the political situation
  • Transport planes/ air supply
  • Submarines able to do sneak attacks on capital ships - may already be possible

  • Well, equipment at its core is shared but yes, it is unique on the field due to many influences.
  • Ships cant stay out forever and will eventually suffer attrition.
  • I dont know about that one, but it is hard to guess since they didnt really show it in the newest built
  • More ranks actually was with what they started, but they simplified it down to generals having a set amount and fm having unlimited, probably can be reverted.
  • They already dont fall like house of cards. The SU in WWW suffered from massive bugs, rendering them basicly dead in the water and China actually gave Japan a hard time, considering he attacked really early.
  • Didnt see much, if any, naval combat in the japanese sp campaign yet, so i dont want to speculate on that. Wait for next week when he battles its out with the USA.
  • It is still being balanced, even tho it already seems to work kinda well already.
  • Transport Planes are already in, air supply will be in but probably not on release since podcat ran out of time to program it, may have changed by now.
  • Submarines need to be detected by the enemy fleet before they can engage, so they can actually sneak up on the enemy, torpedo them and probably even escape unharmed, if the enemy didnt manage to find it. Having ASW capable ships in your fleet is essential for that.

the only point i would take issue with is your comment about China giving Japan a hard time - it fell in 1938, it was way way way too easy for Japan to conquer it. i appreciate it was an early attack but that also meant japan was weaker as well - hopefully all will be more balanced before release (and this must be very difficult to do with all the variables)

I just can't wait for the Extraterrestrial Invasion and Godzilla Attack mod. The "Women Warriors" mod with bikini uniforms (or optional "no bikini" version) will also be a "must download".

More seriously, unique national focus trees for a lot of the mid-sized countries, and more realistic internal and external politics, would be very welcome additions.
