I just got an Agricultural Revolution event that can give me +2 Base Tax!

1. Spending 200+ points to increase stab to +3, only to get the free stab event a few days.
2. -Cash events as soon as you repay all your loans and you are at 10 ducats.
Alternatively, when you sight a comet after declaring a war, without any CB, and breaking the truce. Ha! You can't hurt me!
In 150 years of constant warfare, I have not lost a single province against the HRE-Russia super alliance as the Commonwealth. It seems that the HRE or the Russians would declare war after every truce. 75% of my armies are now mercenaries since my manpower cant replenish fast enough. The Commonwealth spent hundreds of thousands of lives defending against the invaders from the East and the West.
Then in 1817, 4 years before the game ends, after a disastrous war, I finally had to concede a single province to the HRE. I can hold my head high knowing that I only lost a single province, and that the Commonwealth remains strong and free.
My King dies 2 months later, and the HRE inherits the Commonwealth throne. EDIT: not inherit, but I was put under a PU
I deleted the ironman save file. The end.
I'd probably have uninstalled the game as well.Arrrggggg! I don't have one, but that was painful to read.

I recently had that happen in my Byzantine game. I was just abobut to diplo-vassalize 2-province Ukraine (formed by polish rebels) when Muscovy ended their war with Lithuania by forcing them to return 5 Ukrainian Cores. Now like you I'm stuck with the Royal Marriage, and a youthful Ukrainian king who's already sired an heir.As the Ottomans, I planned for 5 years to make a heretic Oman like me and become my vassal (involving the conquest of a rival province), but Oman vassalized OPM Haasa literally in the month before I ask for vassalization, making the vassalization impossible.
Have to choose between sticking with the -1 diplomatic relations penalty for 25 more years or taking 1 stab hit for ending the royal marriage and sabotaging all the relations with Oman, making vassalization impossible for the next 50 years.
Indeed. Maybe the irony is that we would expect the posters not to be fools...but they are! Hmm...still don't think that counts as ironic, just stupid. I blame that cheeky Lithuania. Always causing...trouble?.I think the most ironic thing here is the fact that half of the cases mentioned in this thread are not ironic. I blame Alanis Morisette.
Long time lurker here but I could not stop myself. Great stories all though![]()
