First impression? Very good!
I continued with one of my saves after completing the campaign, so I can try some flashpoints straight away. Got offered the same as some other people, Joint Venture, and I liked it. Also, I'm getting used to the remodelled skills, so still doing a few silly mistakes until I adapt my playstyle. So, some points about Flashpoint (and 1.3):
- new animations look good, now the Argo approaches the planets braking! It was about time, Meyer xD
- timeline paused while doing missions: good for more money... if you don't get damage. After 3 or 4 missions (5 skulls rating) I had to let pass 3 days to repair two of my 3 Assault 'Mechs
- Black market! I also payed the 500k, not going to turn pirate but the black market can have something interesting.
- New 'Mechs! I already tried the Hatchet, beat two Cyclops (a pity I cored them out, now I only have one piece of each, and they were of different variants). Still haven't seen a Crab.
- Flashpoints (opinion after only one):
- consecutive deployments are fun (you can't repair, but can switch 'Mechs, refill ammo and recover armour), adds a bit of challenge
- some dialog lines are totally prepared for a particular situation, like the explanation to change one of your undamaged 'Mechs (and pilots) for a Hatchet and a random pilot. Although I'm not complaining, it was fun to try the Hatchet out =D
- for what other people mentioned, I guess that the OpFor is random (as for any mission, within amount of 'Mechs for each class), and to allow the players to obtain the Hatchet, the Hatchetman is a possible 'Mech for the OpFor... it does not make any sense in that particular mission (Joint Venture), but I can understand why it appears to some players (I was lucky and no enemy Hatchet)
- extra salvage/loot is amazing, apart from the normal salvage of the missions, I got a part of an Atlas, a full Wolverine, one or two parts of medium 'Mechs and some weapons and goodies (some were +, maybe ++, not sure now)
- haven't encountered a tonnage restriction, but looking forward to it
Probably I'm forgetting something, and some other stuff that I haven't seen it yet, but so far so good
