Goin' for all the majors first, just like I did w/ EU2:
1. Germany - Right after I get rid of that Weimar flag.
2. USSR - The country that won the most important theater of the war. Gimn Sovetskogo Sojuza will be added to the music listings for this game.
3. U.K. - Goal for this game will be better preparation and cooperation with
the French.
4. Japan - Just for a change of scenery.
5, 6. Italy / France - By this point I should know enough to actually do something big with these guys.
7. USA - Practically an afterthought. Every WW2 game I've ever played has promised nothing but Nazi-slaughtering boredom for the US player. Don't even get me started on the Pacific sideshow.
And now, the more interesting games:
8. Finland - Hand Leningrad and Moscow to Hitler on a silver platter.
9. Persia - Exchange alliance with the Axis for uncontested control of Mid East oil. Annoy the hell out of the UK and USSR, or get crushed by both. It's all good.
10. Spain - Franco didn't know what he was missing.
11. Poland - Try not to crash and burn.
12. Czechoslovakia - Ditto.
13. Sundry others, including Sweden, <insert faction name here> China, Phillipines ... maybe even Tibet (are they playable? )

I plan to be Canada, only I will not send any troops over seas. Instead I will build them up and up , and research for the bomb.
Surprise attack on the US when all their troops are overseas trying to take up the slack from the missing Canadians. They will have to withdraw and bring there troops home. I'll probably go with the US the first time for three reasons. First, isolationism means I'll have time to learn on the job - no need to go to war for awhile. Second, the US gives me room to make mistakes and learn the game system. I hate it when playing a game for the first time and you realize you made a major error that makes victory impossible, mainly because you didn't understand the game or how something works. That always makes me start over. With the US, if I mess something up I have the ability to recover. Third, with the US I will have a chance to research a lot of tech and see how it works. Later, when playing lesser countries I will have better knowledge of what tech branches make sense for that nations situation.

That could be possible mod, Hitler stayed in Autria, and tried to restore Austria-Hungary to its former glory. Not very realistic, but could make for challenging play.

4. Italy. Weakest of all majors. Good areas to advance. Land oriented for the first time. Objections: Balkans, N Africa, Eastern Medditerian, Arabic states. Maybe Persia and India Taste for subs.
5. France. Objection is easy: survive.

I think I'll go for a quick "getting annexed" with Norway as my first game.
