My first game was as Sweden (man it has allready been 4 years)... it didn't go so well, I started by declaring war on Novgrod in 1419..... And in 1439 they finiched the job and annext me (just them, denmark was veary quiet).
But it was a fun game

If we're thinking about the same one it was the "1750"-bug IIRC. The game (almost any game?) crashed in early 1750 and no one knew why. I surely remember it

You are right, it was the 1750-bug. Some French event was the cause, iirc. And yes, I play since 2002, with great pauses in between, and registered only much later. I am slow, but faithful.

Well, like me. I bought the game the moment it hit the shelves (even earlier, as I made a reservation at my store), and only registered six months ago.

I too am much the same. I ordered the game online once I heard about it then had to wait 4 frustrating months before it actually reached NZ several months after the rest of the world. Only registered here a couple of months ago and been posting for even less time.

It's good you can buy most paradox stuff on the shelves now in NZ. Anyway my first game was as spain 1492. I couldn't figure out why my men couldn't get on their transports. Then I realised that the ships had to be in the ocean instead of in port which i felt was really stupid at the time.

Common mistakes with the transports there. I've been looking around here recently and it is good almost all the paradox titles are available now including the 6 pack.

My first game in Eu2 was with Byzantium...I thought that it would result in a fun game. But on January 3rd, the Ottomans declared war upon me,,,One year, and three loans later, I lost Morea, and all of my money.So, I took another loan, and attacked Duchy of Athens, annxed them, only to be attacked by the Ottomans three years later...and lost..again...

My first Eu2 game was about a year ago, and it was as Great Britain in 1773 against those pesky Yankee rebels I ended up losing the revolution, but at least I got to keep Canada...but I had to give back Louisiana Territory east of the Mississippi...and Spain back their Colonia de Florida ...oh well, at least I won the Napoleonic Wars

My first game was as the timurids. I remember thinking "oh, what a nice large empire I have. Wait, what does revolt risk +3 for the next 5000 months mean?" It pretty much went downhill from there.

Wow, my first game, ages ago, so naive, so kind I was....
I played Castile, recommended by a friend to be a nice game for a newbie...
I spent enormous amount of time and money to vassalise and annex Aragon just to find out a bit later in the game, that I got it by a historical event... and on the other hand I didn't do anything about Granada... such a newbie I was then :rofl:

My first game I played England. As a minor.

I stayed out of politics mostly as I wanted to see how the rest of the world would play. Y'know, get a feel for things. Easiest settings and STILL Europe tore it self apart in war after war.

Didn't really understand how explorers worked so France and Spain kicked my arse at colonising, only had a few pockets of English rule abroad.

Managed to take Scotland and ireland early on though. I never really had much money though, I was scared to death of minting as the manual warned against it. Meant my tech was pretty good though.

I built far FAR too many warships though. I must have built enough to cover every inch of the North sea. Means the home islands were completely invulnerable... couldn't afford a cup of tea though.

Played as Ireland utterly confused.

I cheated to get tons of resources and had lots of troops. Tried to invade England only to find out I couldnt because I couldnt figure out how to use transports. So I sat there.

Played as Scotland and conquered England, only to find out I couldnt annex them right away, waited 20 years with them as a vassal with 200 influence and I still couldnt annex them. So I colonised America, and conquered the Norwegians and Koreans for no good reason.

My first game was with Portugal.

A lot of colonization and very few wars (necessary to not be ambitous when you ignore inflation ). Very interesting to begining and to learn the game.

I can't remember, but I know my first EU1 game was as England. First EU2 game was probably the Ottomans, as they were my favourite nation from EU1.

Absolutely first game in all the "paradox-series" was back in EU (1) as Novgorod - of course without playing tutorial and without reading the manual (well,the game was published free in a gaming magazine with manual that had about one page ).
I cannot imagine how,but i managed to survive almost 150 years, every hour discovering something new...and finally i was destroyed by my terrible reputation and inflation over 300% :wacko: But it was sooooooooo fun

..after that i read the manual finally.. find out that EU2 has been just published..bought that one...after 3months of playing when i was feeling to have the most-perfect-game-in-the-world i discovered this forums... damn..since then,i´m lost

My first game of EU2 was Fantasia with Incan Empire it sucked so bad because i was used to HOI which I owned before and i tried to play it like I was playing hoi and it didnt end well

my first game was as walachia....was confortablly spending 20y at peace getting the extra 0.1 income until ottos owed me , assaulted and seen the "you have been defeated" message with seconds...

then i became intrigued...that was about 6-7y ago...lol

I began as Siena.

I thought that a small country would be easier to manage for a beginner.

Despite my repeated attempts to secure a royal marriage with the Pope, I found myself at war with the Papal States.

I then discovered that being at war with the Papal States makes every other Catholic nation in Europe declare war on you.

It was a short game.

My first game was an mp game as OE/Sweden/ and Russia . THe OE I managed to completely screw over thinking I could annex Byzantium and Hungary at the same time. I got beat badly and switched to Sweden. Did good until I attacked Zulu and got destroyed Then Russia I attacked Poland cause they refused to let me have monopolies on my COTS. I got destroyed.
