Your favorite Paradox grand strategy game?

What is your favorite Paradox strategy game and why do you recommend it?

Used to love EU-played EUI and II but it's CK2 all the way for me now (have yet to taste the delights of Stellaris)

CK2 for me. Prefer the dynastic intrigue, stories and sense of humour of CK2 over the more detached country level trade/warring of EUIV. Haven't yet played Stellaris, might do in a year or so after some patches and a couple of expansions - not convinced it will be my cup of tea, but who knows.

This is something I'm extremely torn on. There aren't any that I dislike but my favourite would probably be Victoria 2. Primarily because I like the setting of the nineteenth century and later colonialism. The industrial system is also quite good and I like having the pops to deal with.

Otherwise, in the following order: HOI4, EU4, Stellaris (but rising rapidly with updates) and CK2 (which, whilst at the lowest point, is still very good).

So, personally, I love CK2, EU IV, HOI IV and to a lesser degree Victoria II, but my absolute favourite must be EU IV, as the colonizing of the new world and Africa along with the forming of great European empires really has a pull with me. I still think HOI IV and CK2 are excellent games and I have succesfully wasted eons on all three, but EU IV seems to be my favourite.

Darkest Hour, Vic2 and EU4.

My favourite ever is CKII. Also very fond of HoI2 and Darkest Hour - but hated HoI3 and never played the newest one.

Next is the Victoria franchise, I like both 1 and 2 in different ways.

EU franchise is okay, but definitely the one if eleast connected with.

The ones I play most are EU4, CK2, and Vicky 2.

Ck2 by far. All that scheming, nurturing successor of dynasty, goofy events. Oh and plenty of dlc that keeps the game interesting and different. Even today there is stuff, i have not tried in the ck2.

Before I buy a Paradox game, I always watch some let's play series first. EU4 really clicked (467 hours according to steam) with me.

Crusader Kings II was the first Paradox game that I really delved into .. and I will always have fond memories.. but I'd support Europa Universalis IV as my favourite.

My favorite is Crusader Kings 2. However, it seems to be slowing down now. The modding community has moved on to other Paradox games and while I love the new Monks and Mystics DLC I wish they would make a Vicky 3 or a CK 3 instead. However, I would recommend Crusader Kings 2 as the best game Paradox has made and as a starting game for newcomers. It is perfect to teach the basic way Paradox Games work and teaches players the foundations of all other Paradox Games.

By far CK2! The dynasty and intrigue is more interesting the being a country only.

CK > Vic > EU > HoI, for me
