While playing my first game of Crusader Kings II, I have come across certain people who just seem to want to brutally murder my whole family, who keep coming back for more war in a desperate attempt to stop me. And this thread is dedicated to them. This is a thread where you talk about your greatest rivals, be it a dynasty, a realm or just a single character.
I've had two big rivals so far in my Munster/Ireland game, the first lasted from my first ruler to my third and that was the Duke of Meath and Leinster. It started when I declared war on Kildare and then he does the exact same. After winning, I have to fight him aswell. Then whenever I went to war or faced a rebeliion he would come along and join my enemies' side. I eventually got rid of him.
My second has been a far bigger pain, partially because she is my current characters great aunt and part of my dynasty. It all started when I got on to my secpnd character, who had two daughters. He was quite young so I felt confident he could get a few sons. The very day my reign starts I get an event about how the path to thomond was blocked or something along those lines. Any way three days after my new character's reign an event happens which kills my character, hired by some bishop. Suddenly, under Gavelkind, my demense is split between my two daughters. Luckily I only had one duchy, so the younger stays as my vassal. A few more wars later and i have enough land to create ireland, but not enough piety. So i declare a holy war on a one province count in north africa and beat them. I make some random kinsmen the count and wait until i have enough piety/gold. Then I get a request for independence from the count in africa. Not wanting to go to war over one province that will continue to rebel, I give him his independence. But that gives my sister, who has 3 counties, independence as well. She quickly makes herself the duchess of meath. I declare war on her for some land and win. So for the next fews decades I fight her constantly and agter my duchess dies and gavelkinds sets me back to almost square one, my new Duke conquers some more land (not my aunts) and makes himself king. I go all out and send my aunt running to scotland, where her husband the duke of moray is. I'm happy because my troublesome aunt is gone and proceed to conquer or vassilize the rest of ireland except for two counties. My King dies and a new one comes along. A few weeks after my characters rise to the throne, scotland declares war for the duchy on meath, pressing the claim of my now great aunt. Scotland crushes my armies and she gets her new lands and becomes independent all over again. I quickly take dublin back, not wanting to press my uncles claim on it as he already has the duchy of ulster. And now there she sits, with one county, the only county now not under my kings in all of ireland. The truce is expiring. The moment i get her, she will be executed.
