Playing as Castille...

Year 1647

Seven electors... Two of them vassals, other three of them easily to be made in 5-10 years if I want to do it (The only ones I can not attack to vassalize are Austria and Bohemia).

Currently 24 members (9 of them vassals)

Only 4 reforms passed, out of 8.

Should I?

a. Become emperor (Easy with five out of seven electors)
b. Dismantle HRE (Close to impossible)
c. Just annex all the vassals

Always hijack the empire. If you don't want to be the hre ( maybe you don't like the color?) You get all of them as vassals with out having to pay the dip points.

It's really up to you. I'm assuming that you've expanded a lot (have you formed Spain)? If you want to unify the HRE, go for it. If you want to dismantle it, do that. It's really your choice.

I wouldn't just annex the electors, because that wouldn't lead to having nice borders.

^This. I always hijack but never fully integrate the empire. The color of the HLR is horrible and I am not too fond of the name either.

Another thing to remember is that the more HRE states that exists, the stronger the buff you get. Most of my games end up with 45+ small HRE states before I finally pass the vassal reform.

But if I become Emperor and I form HRE, not being a member... that would be a single vassal that I will be able no annex as usual? And is it easy to develop four reforms?

You would become the holy roman empire, even if you're not a member when you pass the reform.

I wish that there was a CB for forcing nations back into the HRE if they vote against the vassalisation, not claims, just if you win they are vassalised and perhaps any old nations inside that are released.

Also I think if you are a nation outside the HRE normally it would be nice to keep your name in some way, like the Spainish Holy Roman Empire and keep your colour

It's nice to be a non-Emperor HRE member with >24 total members and <2 reforms passed, as Imperial Integrity is very nice and Reichsregiment benefits everyone. But after that, things shift quite rapidly in favour of the Emperor. With 4 reforms already passed, being Emperor is definitely worth it just for all the bonuses. No need to pass Renovatio Imperii - as a large outside power, it's often better to stop at Revoke the Privilegia and milk the Emperor bonuses + vassal horde.

Well now it is 1668 and I have become Emperor...

Two doubts as it is my first time as emperor

1. All but my vassals are against passing any reform. How to work against this? Just being a good boy, with the relations at its best?
2. My heir is a woman, so I will loose the emperor title, right? (The same family reform has not been passed).

1. You've got basically two options to make them more likely to agree to reforms: improving relations and just stacking up the imperial authority. As the IA rises, more and more princes will agree to the next reform.

2. Before the Erbkaisertum, and assuming Austria didn't pass the Pragmatic Sanction, you'll lose the Empire. It happened to me when Anne ascended to throne in my Great Britain game.

In that case I wouldn't want to pass reforms. As long as you have electors, you'll be eligible and get voted again as soon as whoever-gets-to-be-the-next dies. But if you enact Landfriede and the next guy actually passes Erbkaisertum then it's gone.

Imperial authority will also massivly shift the votes in your favour once you get 50+

And the easy way to get that is to ad provinces into the HRE. Just find a province that borders a HRE province (and you own). Since you are the emperor you can just click the butten and its now part of the HRE. Gain Imperial authority.

Now make a chain of HRE provinces all the way to your capital. Hilarity will ensue.

I only become emperor for the first 4 reforms, I sure as hell never want to form the HRE (unless I'm Austria) and those first reforms are fantastic, afterwards I just hang on the husk of a hollow empire which I use as I seem fit. The way I see it, those 4 reforms make it quite interesting to hang on to the HRE :)
