Their rivals are in the Catholic league, so they support the protestants.
You know with the Ottomans that's actually somewhat historical right? They didn't actually fight directly in the Thirty Years War, but they did allow Transylvania to do so. They also helped the Netherlands out by attacking Spain after William asked for help, though there's no way of knowing if they would have done that anyway, of course

A lot of countries with no direct stake in the empire join in.
That's the first war in my Brandenprussia game. The second war was very unimpressive but featured Kazan most likely since Muscovy had taken sides.
