Not really related to Vicky, well KoH actually, but I was able to answer a questions on the First Crusade in class today 'No Miss you're wrong the first crusade was in 1095 and was called for by the Byzantine Emperor because the Seljuk Turks were rapidly encroaching on the boundaries of his Empire.'

She was also impressed later in the lesson when I referred to the Ottoman Empire as the 'sick man of Europe'.

You find it impossible to read any text concerning Western history from the Dark Ages up to the Cold War without thinking of it in terms of a related Paradox game.

You find yourself reading a book about the unification German Empire soley because the "Conservative Empire" event isn't realistic enough for you.
You almost get approved to get a History credit for making events for Victoria relating to the unification of Germany based on said book, only to have the school close down... So close... so close... :D
(Hmm... maybe I should start work on that again... might get in the VIP or something...)

EDIT: You know that any problems in Iraq will end ten years, to the month, after its annexation. No sooner, no later.

That's gold!

Unfortunately you also know that there will be increasing amounts of revolts there until that date arrives. You send a letter to Donald Rumsfeld advising him to station cavalry there (and for God's sake, NO artillery) and to increase crimefighting spending to the maximum...

And lest we forget, satellites that have successful revolutions no longer remain satellites. Revolutions render all alliances null and void.

But if the you release them as a satelite most of the time the revoltrisk disappears. Now that it doesnt seem to disappear it means that the government is wrong, ad to solve that rebels need to capture Baghdad and hold it for a year... ;)

I've know I've played Victoria too much when my 5th Form history textbook gave half a page on the Unification of Germany and Italy under the chapter "Building of a Nation state" (Pembinaan Negara Bangsa) (this is losely translated since my textbook is in Malay, I'm a Malaysian chinese and my English is not that good. What I'm trying to say is something in the 14 points declaration. e.g. the building of a Polish State etc etc.) and I keep saying no, this ain't enough, where are the factors that build up to the unification except building a nation.

When your sister plays some notes on the piano searching for the matrimonial song thingy and you think to yourself "that sounds exactly like that song on vicky" and you can't get said song out of your head until the next day...

Happens to me :p

I had to explain to my sister today about Prussia and Bavaria today because a)She is doing Hitler in her history class and b) she couldn't understand what Prussia and Bavaria were. I was quite annoyed that she didn't know about the franco-prussian war.

My high school european (back in the day) asked me the same thing due to my disruptiveness during her lectures on the 1st world war. I said yes and launched into a detailed account of growing naval rivalry between the UK and Germany, the building of the Kiel canal, culminating in the battle of Jutland. She was sufficiently impressed that she asked me if I wanted to "prepare a presentation" to cover the Korean war, which she confided she had never cared for! Mind you, this was pre-Vicky, and had it been post, I might have launched into a rant about Barrel production. :D

I must commend both of you for your actions. Sadly, the quality of education has declined. Probably since most history teachers are called "Coach."

Perhaps this topic is better for a new thread.
