"You cant ask to join their alliance" Message

I just played Sovjet Union. I influed USA to become communists and by late 1939 i managed to get military access. When i later asked them to join MY alliance i got the message: "you cant ask to join TEHIR alliance". I dont want to join them i want them to join me.

I hope that this is a bug not just wrong message.

Are the U.S.A. in any other alliance, or maybe the leader of the Western Allies?

The msg is just like that... Check if they are allied to anyone else.
Also, if you want to join the Allies, you'll have to ask Great Britain, they are the Allied leaders

No USA is not in anyalliance and i didt ask to join THEIR aliance i asked them to join MY alliance.
