Not only do they lack conversion strength, they also lack missionaries, by logic conquest of Jerusalem should give them missionaries too .

Yeah, in my games I've modded Jerusalem to give bonus to Jews as well as Christians/Muslims, and Mecca to give bonuses to any non-Muslim (much like Rome). However, I've also lowered all three bonuses from the +1.0 missionary to +0.5.

This would be a reason, for me anyway, to play a version higher than 1.9.2. More religions to choose from and fiddle with are always nice to have, imo.
