I'm thrilled by the idea of adding more nations to the game. Nations that were in fact already featured in HOI3. Nations such as India, Pakistan, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Vietnam, Indonesia, North and South Korea etc. in the form of dominions or shaped in a different manner.

It could potentially add more flavor to the late-game-stage of HOI4 and increase the motivation to keep playing after WW2 is firmly over. Especially when playing as Britain and France - trying desperately to hold together their respective empires. Or as the US and Soviet Union pressing for a decolonisation, pressuring the newly liberated countries to adapt certain ideologies. Or in fact as Germany and Japan creating puppet states; attempting to establish a 'New World Order'. Or indeed to determine the destiny of these nations yourself as soon as they gain independence.

This would of course require Paradox to expand research and focus trees.

Some may find that unnecessary in a WW2 game. Still, there will be dozens of mods that'll add new countires to the game. So, why don't make a DLC for that, making it better than any modder possibly could.

I don't know about you, but I'd be more than willing to spend my money on that!
Rather than a DLC that focuses on the unit design of Nicaragua...

What do you think about that?

I definitely want Alternate Histories explored. Also, adding these separatist countries as liberation war goals for the Axis would be appreciated, too. A German colony in the South Yemen would make little sense. But reuniting North and South Yemen under a German-controlled Yemeni puppet state would make for an interesting concept.

HOI IV is a WWII based game and the nations you mention didn't exist while the conflict itself took place. I'm sure the creators at Paradox have the idea of an extended timeframe in the back of their minds. Just adding the country tags to the game wouldn't be enough though. I would like to see a whole DLC that extends the time frame by 10 years or so. But that would be a pretty big project, I guess.

Extending the timeline is something way beyond a simple DLC, you need graphics, events and other content to fill into those new countries. These things are better to be left for mods since no doubt they have the ability to do a much more in-depth job with those countries than Paradox will since any work on a country from Paradox is work that needs to be payed for.

I disagree, I think the size and scope of it is what would make it perfect for a dlc, a huge expansion dlc is something I would love!

Yeah exactly!
It would be very time consuming, indeed. As I've already mentioned in the opening post. They would have to rework all the focus and research trees. Possibly remodeling unit designs. As hard as it sounds, though, considering the work they've put into EU4, provided that the promise of putting up the same effort with HOI4 holds water, an consistent further development of the game would make a time frame extension inevitable.
