Hi!

I've heard a lot of complaints about religions in China. Especially about the fact Confucianism doesn't represent the triumvirate of religions in China (Confucianism, Daoism and Buddhism).

Out of the three religions, Buddhism is the only one that fits the label of "religion" perfectly. Both Daoism and Confucianism are often described as philosophies.

What if we create a gauge for China, akin to the gauge Muslims have (Mysticism vs. Legalism), only make it Daoism vs. Confucianism. So then, depending on how you govern, it could shift between the two. I think it makes a lot of sense because both Confucianism and Daoism are mainly about lifestyle or, in the case of rulers, the style of governing. With Confucianism advocating a strict structure and obedience, while Daoism advocating freedom and almost non-governance.

AFAIK Mahayana Buddhism is something exclusive to specifically the countries that have Confucinaism in the game: China, Korea, Vietnam (also Japan, but it has Shintoism anw).

So, what if we just give Mahayana as a religion to those areas, attach the aforementioned gauge to this religion and give it the ability to harmonize?

I think this would solve the whole issue perfectly.
