There is one that helps the trade lag from gates. And another that disables gates until there is a better fix. So yeah 2 possible fixes.

Obviously no modder can fix the multithreading issue. But that's ok because it's really the trade/gate problem that really needed to be adressed.

I only play on ironman for achievement across all paradox games.

From time to time I might just do something for fun but it is mostly ironman for achievements.

Only mods that doesn't change checksum work for achievement that means no game changing mods.

This is a very, very silly take on the issue.

The fact that users have fixed some issues is truly another way to say that PDX has rushed the release, because if in a few days "normal" people had fixed some issues themselves, it's even harder to understand why the main team hasn't. But if you expect people to just ignore all issues because mods are there, i'll just tell you three things:

- would you be satisfied to buy a car that has no brakes just because a friend of yours can add them a week later?
- what happens when mods can only ameliorate, but not solve an issue?
- some people (not me) likes to play ironmen, so mods are out of question

Really, some of the counterpoints that are made in PDX's "defense" baffles me at the existential level.

Uhm... I hope this is a joke, right?

So, let's say I build a house for you and you pay me full price for it. Now you move into that house and you realize that I made lots of mistakes which make living in this house rather uncomfortable - with your argument in mind you would not be allowed to complain about these issues, just get some stuff from the market and fix it yourself, right?

Seriously, people payed money for this expansion and there are some serious bugs that need to be fixed in order to fully enjoy the WHOLE game again, some things like the overall performance became very bad after this update and the performance of the AI became so bad that it took almost all the challange from the game in terms of singleplayer gameplay (for example, I wasn't able to win games in admiral yet, though after this update I steamrolled the whole galaxy on grand admiral difficulty with advanced starting AIs - this should not be a thing).
Criticizing these problems with the game and "demanding" the developers to fix them is not "stupid" or anything - it's totally acceptable. We should NOT rely of "third party modifications" to the game to make it playable again. However, this does not mean people should use insults or anything like that - this is unacceptable and should not happen, this is not constructive feedback.

Fixing bugs like the current ones is the developers job and they are probably working on it right now, after all, this was a really huge update and now it needs lots of time for the bug-fixes, having mods as temporal fixes is Ok but we should NOT RELY on these to make the game bug free - this is just encouraging Devs to not properly program their games.

EDIT: Wasn't there even some kind of controversy with the Devs of Bethesda where they said something similar like "Let the modders fix the bugs", this really hurt their reputation with their new game Fallout 76 in mind, it's full of bugs, actually there are so many that even modders would have incredible problems to fix everything.

Because a Game that people are SELLING should just be working. I shouldn't have to rely on the volunteer work of other people to fix Paradox's game for them.
And even more importantly: Paradox shouldn't be able to just expect volunteers to fix their shit for them.

I use mods but it shouldn't matter, people paid money for a product and they are actually entitled to have it function properly.

Performance tanks late game.
I remember when they said it was wormhole FTL that was causing lag.
Then they said it was the tile system.
Well they took two years and fixed both and the game is still laggy and AI still brain dead. They need to spend a solid 4 months at least giving us a free QoL update for performance and AI.

Considering how well Stellaris sells I remain disappointed by the amount of effort pdx puts into it compared to its other titles.

You all are ignoring a major game mechanic that all paradox games are sold with. The modding community.

To the house buying analogy. I'm sorry your fancy garage door opener doesn't work. I'll fix it, in the mean time here is an off market garage opener that does work so you can enjoy parking your car.

Dont get mad you've left your car in the rain when you had another option.

This smells like entitlement mentality so thanks all o guess you answered my question I appreciate it.

This is a legit question. I'm baffled at the amount of vitriol aimed at the dev's. Sure It's pretty obvious that there are some glaring balance flaws in 2.2. The 2 biggest right now seem to be:

AI - use glavius AI
pop growth model - there are currently 3 that all essentially fix the problem in the same way.

And yes there are others and almost all of them have mods that fix them.

Seriously rather than get rabidly mad at paradox. Post the problem, install the mod that fixes the problem and go back to enjoying the rest of the game.

For those of you that are in the b!%$%ing at paradox camp that haven't installed mods, seriously is there a rational reason why you havent?

Yes, the restaurant served your meal undercooked. Why not bring a grill and finish it yourself?

Yes, the store sold you jeans with a hole. Why not just sew them up?

Yes, the song you downloaded doesn't work. Why not have your friends record a song for you instead?

Because a product should work as advertised. The consumer shouldn't have to fix it themselves.

Mods are great for expanding the experience of a game. In Stellaris they can add new twists to the game's already clever mechanics, or add a layer of story and adventure that's essential to a space game. They are not a patch mechanic, and the players are not a volunteer labor force who should fix the game themselves.

So, no. No one is ignoring a mechanic that Pdx included. Because modding is neither a quality control nor a tech support mechanic.

I really do appreciate what you are attempting to say, but I think it would be better received if it was focused on having patience with PDX rather than the way it is currently phrased.

Simply put, when you purchase a product like a video game, you ARE entitled to a working product. This isn't about being selfish or bratty or whatever as your use of entitlement seems to suggest, but rather demanding you receive the goods you were sold, rather than something broken.

With physical products, if you are sold something that is advertised as functional but is in fact broken, you can raise a lawsuit or pursue other methods to make the situation right.

At the same time, everyone on some level gets that games like Stellaris are extremely complicated to design and develop, and that you can simultaneously acknowledge that this expansion was rushed / poorly QA while still having patience with them to fix it properly rather than botch this further.

I mean, he's got a point. There are some serious issues with the game, and there also exist some fixes in the community - nothing wrong with using them.

Is this about proving blame and serving retribution, or about enjoying a game?

The beta branch is in very active development and it's difficult for modders to keep up. A lot of the issues are hardcoded and not fixable by mods. Glavius's AI mod causes MP desyncs.
