Do you think we could abolish Denmark? I don't see a reason for having it. I mean, it's just a tiny collection of islands and a peninsula, I'm certain the resources could be better used elsewhere. Perhaps the Swedes could take it? Or the Germans? I favor it becoming Norwegian, myself, but I'm willing to negotiate. Perhaps Iceland would take it on?

The author is an English journalist, who, grown too harried with her life, finds refreshed sensitivity to her existence while in Denmark. It's not especially critical, except in a very lighthearted way. She even felt a patriotic compulsion to buy a Danish flag for her home.

But for dry academic work and perhaps translations (the only things I'd be inclined to publish), I would never publish anything under my name, and under no circumstances would ever I accept payment for writing. Johnson said "No man but a blockhead ever wrote, except for money", so make of my principles what you will. In any case, I'm too domestic anymore (not in am especially Danish style, though, I think) to devote time to writing strictly for pleasure in any real volume, and I prefer it that way.

When President West lost in all competing categories at the Grammys to a K-Pop singer, few imagined it would lead to a global nuclear war. Then again, few thought West would have even been able to win the Presidency, but the unlikely seems to be the norm here.

You all have been living in a fallout bunker in some mountain complex for about a year now, and while it has been peaceful until now, tensions are beginning to build. There's only so many times you can stomach what passes as food around here before you lose it, and it seems some among you have already begun looking for a way out, no matter the cost.

Unfortunately for them, in order to leave, a majority of those present must want to leave, and with the bunker's computer mainframe predicting extremely lethal amounts of radiation outside the bunker, none of those still sane enough to understand really want to leave.

Perhaps they'll have to turn to a more... persuasive method of convincing people to leave...
