A horrible demon from hellfire.
It's a badly-programmed microblogging platform, stereotypically populated by social justice activist types. These people are typically represented as horribly intolerant, bullying sjw type activists, or as ~~~all of my beautiful oppressed people are so beautiful!~~~ type activists.
It's also partially famous for making slightly odd genders like "stargender" and "voidgender" more popular, which are sometimes mocked as special snowflakes. I kind of wish that people would stop mocking this, because it's not exactly harming anyone and sometimes people have good reasons for their identification. But that's the "special snowflake" part.
I recently got a tumblr. It is exactly as awful as its reputation makes it sound, with the exception of the rationalist community.
But anyway, if there's one lesson I learned, it's that tumblr antifas are completely terrifying. "Kill all Nazis! They're literally subhuman!" "But that's dehumanizing and what if they're defenseless-" "lmao peak liberalism here guys, look at this fascist apologist lmao"
So that's what I was doing instead of learning OF. It was definitely time well spent.
Oh and also I tried out 4chan. And got a wordpress blog. It has been an eventful past few months.
To be honest that is a large part of antifa. There are reasonable ones there as well, but many of them believe that they are literally the only thing holding back brownshirts.

I haven't met enough antifa in real life to really judge, but this has definitely been my experience with antifa tumblr.
They also tend to use arguments that compare murdering fascists to self-defense, which is very irritating. Murdering someone out of the blue is not self defense. Self-defense is what happens when you're defending yourself from someone else's physical attack. If it were really self-defense then you wouldn't have to argue about it so much because self-defense is something that almost everyone agrees upon is okay.
And then there's the argument that fascists aren't even people and that they are subhuman.
Great job, antifas, it's not like dehumanization has hurt anyway in the past.Once in an arugment I had with an antifa I made a reference to Mussolini's perpetual war. And they didn't get it. Instead, they said, "Some marginalized people have been in a war that has gone on for generations, and we are struggling for our lives, and if you don't understand that any tactics are acceptable in a war like this, then you're living inside a privileged bubble!"
Have they done any research about what fascism actually is? Do they understand how totalitarianism perpetuates itself through an atmosphere of fear and a constant war mindset, which seeks to root out even the smallest hints of dissent within? Have they ever heard of the aesthetization of violence? Why are you antifas if you don't even know what fascism is?
I want to try to get into tumblr, but I always get annoyed at how hard it is to read a blog from the very beginning and then give up on it. As far as I know the difficulty to start at the beginning of that type of media is the only problem it has. That and my internet is too slow to easily load all the pictures quickly.
Maybe it's tied to group spirit, maybe it's just do to wanting to do good in their own twisted way or maybe they're just a bit simple in the head. I don't really have a clue. Out of all of us in the Games forum I'd probably wager @walrus knows the most.
It's horrible. I tried reading a few webcomics on there, and the format is terrible for going back and looking for old comics. I don't even try it with long-runners.

I thought antifa had something to do with intifada for a second and I got confused. Though to be honest, many of them probably support that particular Cause too.
Is this sentence grammatically correct? Getting a tumblr? You wouldn't say "I recently got a facebook", would you? Unless you acquired the whole Tumblr company.
Might not be the best way to say it, but no one would be confused about the meaning of that sentence. A facebook would be understood to stand for a facebook account. Same with a tumbler.
