Unless you mean highrise neighbourhoods mostly populated by immigrants, which have a slightly higher crime rate but excellent services, running water and electricity, schools, shopping malls, police stations and vast stretches of parks/parking spaces - no, we don't.

Yes I meant those high rise areas. And the crime there is much higher than elsewhere, they are almost solely populated by non Danes (i.e. non whites). And of course the services are fine; I said ghetto and not slum. And police, firefighters, and ambulances have stones hurled at them when entering the ghettos---heck in Sweden police never even enters some of them.

What you mentioned in e.g. Brazil is slum and not ghettos.

And as Cliges said then he and other Americans advised me in a thread not to go to the brown and black parts of the US due to it apparently being really dangerous to do so.

Will read the article later. Though I rather doubt that losing identity thing since the Eskimo culture isn't really disappearing and secondly in Southern Greenland Scandinavian culture is the native one and the Eskimos the colonisers. (And the opposite in Nothern Greenland.)

Sounds horrible. Which part of the US is it you are in? And I consider everything above 10 (50) maybe 15 (59) to be too hot. Funnily enough I prefer winter over summer. Ideally I would like it to be between -10 (14) and -5 (23), though everything around 0 (32) or lower is fine.

They could have imposed themselves on either half of my family tree with the Great Heathen Army or the Varangian Guard. And I find it troubling and problematic that our great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great (you get the idea) grandparents would have met under such circumstances.

So much this. And I too don't mind -20. Though I start wearing gloves, and cap and a winter jacket when it gets below -10. Scarves if it gets considerably colder meaning pretty much never here. So yeah I am quite a viking.

There was quite a bit of interbreeding between Scandinavians and Picts/Anglo-Saxons (and remember and the Anglos actually came from Denmark and the Saxons from just south of it) meaning that some Britons do look like Scandinavians.

Anyway IIRC you didn't look Scandinavian. IIRC you looked somewhat Southern European, since I think you had black hair which isn't really Scandinavian. Here people in general have blond hair---and those women above I called blonde aren't that blonde here. (But I am aware that you consider quite darker hair to be blonde than we do.) What you normally would call blonde is way blonder. That is some kind of dark blond. Similarly I am not sure that people elsewhere would call that brunette a brunette.
SImilarly most boys have blond hair as children---though for many (me included) it gets darker as they age. My hair is now around that brunette I posted above and hence not blond anymore. It used to be white as sand on a beach---i.e. like blond hair normally is.

A stone is about 13 lbs, a hogshead is a big barrel (we used to measure tobacco by the hogshead in the days of Old Virginia), and a furlong is the distance one can plow with oxen in a day.
