Not because of the Trumpster, but check out how the New Yorker writes "elite".![]()
Take that @Tornadoli.Anyway it is also written with an é in wiktionary.

Sure. But Torn argued that élite wasn't accepted in English.
If the you and the New Yorker are the ones using the alternative spelling, you are elite.Take that @Tornadoli.Anyway it is also written with an é in wiktionary.

How so? The New Yorker is an élite magasine? If the you and the New Yorker are the ones using the alternative spelling, you are elite.
It has a reputation for elitism, I believe. How so? The New Yorker is an élite magasine?

I think that lording over his family's milk peasants as a youth had something to do with it.How did you become an élitist?

But I am not élite. What makes you think I am?How did you become an élitist?
Who said I did that? And no I didn't, since I am not 200 years old and serfs were abolished 200 years ago and hence I have never had serfs. For crying out loud I have never even employed strike breakers like my great great grandfather did back when he was a high ranking member of the employers association. (The association formed to combat the unions; it ended up in a 7 months long general strike/lockout of 1899). How can you call me élite when I have never participated in something like that?I think that lording over his family's milk peasants as a youth had something to do with it.
Who said I had an au pair?Don't be silly.
His au pair would never let him off the estates to mingle with commonfolk.

You think he was entrusted into the care of a non-Dane? Can't say I know about the Danish approach, but au pairs here are usually "commonfolk", as you put it. My au pair seemed to have a thing going on with this guy who was idolized by local boys for his numerous motorcycle crashes. That seemed pretty cool to us.
She taught me to read. The first book I ever read was about a frog who rode a bicycle. And that was pretty much it! Really, not much else happened in that one. It was so awful that it inspired a lifelong love of books. I figured that there had to be better books than "Fast Frog". Another book from that era was "Ned's Number Book". It was also pretty bland, but it was at least more useful.
Au pairs here in Europe tend to be employed only by very rich people, in my experience. But perhaps I should have said "butler"?
I went from being a conservative to some kind of centrist/liberal, but I kept my disdain for the Democratic Party. How did you become a Rockefeller Republican?
