KON hesitated at the door, wondering if it was wise to step across the threshold. Too long had he been absent, and he wondered if his return would be greeted with hospitality or hostility - that is, if it was acknowledged at all. He still remembered the resentment many felt about his abortive, uncompleted attempt at a Hungary AAR.
He had harbored doubts about the whole project from the start, but after some encouragement on the part of MisterT and of others, he had begun. It had gone relatively well at first, and he had enjoyed posting the updates and getting various feedback (some negative, but mostly positive). But then life had intervened, as it tends to do sometimes, and his once-proud project stood empty and abandoned. In shame, he had retreated to a faraway place, away from everyone and everything. Indeed, it was long since he even had the interest or courage to play another game of EU2 again.
But after many months, the old urges to rape, pillage, and plunder across Europe were too great to resist, and so he had returned to the world of Europa Univeralis. At first he merely lurked in the shadows, listening for news and checking for updates. There was no need to announce his presence until the time was right... but was the time right now?
He would soon find out, as he stood hesistant at the door, the sounds of laughter drifting through to ring in his ears. Soon he would know if his absence had gone noticed, or if his failed project had been remembered. He had vowed that if he ever started another AAR, it would be completed, win or lose. But first he had to reacquaint himself with the world of Europa Universalis...
He took a deep breath, and pushed open the door. The heavy wooden panel creaked slighty as it swung back, and KON cringed at the thought that someone might have heard it. His eyes scanned the newly-revealed room quickly, and those old familiar smells greeted his nostrils: MisterT's cigarette smoke, and various alcoholic beverages. At least that much had not changed. KON took some small comfort in that.
He hesitated a moment, and took a few steps into the dimly lit room. The door swung shut behind him, and he was now irreversably within the world of EU2...
