Richard became uneasy, very uneasy actually.

"Please milady Sarah, do not cry, please, your eyes are far to beautifull for that."
Richard wiped away the tears on the girls face.
"Offcourse I like you, how can I not like a girl like you. And I'll do anything to win the Tourney. Offcourse you wish to see the world, everyone youngster wants to see the world, I want to see the world. But this way is a little bit naive don't you think?" Richard made sure the words didn't sound harsh and he smiled.
"What happens if for example the Mongol wins the Tourney? Though I intend to challenge any man who intends to marry you when he wins the Tourney."


*Next day*

Richard wasn't concentrated, not concentrated at all. His head was full of dreams about Sarah and the damned heat in his helmet wasn't making things better for the young Gelran. That's why he didn't notice that the barrier posts were higher then those used in the Christian world.

In the next run he fared better as he had opened his helmet and he managed to hit the tip of the Bavarian lance. He saluted the Bavarian knight and Princess Sarah and then rode off to get rid of the damned armour.

First tourney day

Jacques stood watching the first runs, and laughed as all the knights seemed to be very unlucky and clumsy with their lances.

“Well I am not going to do something as stupid as that!”

Jacques smiled at his squire as they walked towards their tent to prepare for the run. Sitting on his mount waiting for the signal to begin Jacques watched the Heathen Mongol on the other side of the field. As they started rushing toward each other Jacques felt that his arm seemed to still be a little weak from his injury he had suffered under in Moldavia, but watching the Lord Mongke on the other side Jacques could see that he was also loosing his grip on the lance, shocked Jacques completely lost his concentration forcing his lance to slip out of his hand.
Angry at him self Jacques are determined to do a better run the second time, gets his lance back and are even more focus as the two men ride towards each other once again. He sights in on the opponents shield, he mange to hit it, but not hard enough to break the shield. At the same time Jacques notice that his opponent are having trouble with the lance, and this time he hits his own horse causing both the man and horse to be unfocused, and injuring the horse.
Jacques watches as men takes care of the horse and his opponent and seeing that they are both at good health Jacques smiles. Although the first run had been lousy, he had at least got a little lucky on the second run, and it could always have been much worse.

Jacques was happy with the first day, and he was really looking forward to the rest of the tourney.

Having recovered from his anger over having discovered the Quran in his tent, Álvaro was somewhat mollified by his performance in the first round, feeling confident after his match with Sir Giovanni. It afforded him a chance to relax slightly and dwell less on the cirumstances of his brother and the ominous presence of the other Portuguese knight. Álvaro was diligent enough make sure his servants kept over his tent that night. No foul heretic was going to defile his tent again with that blasphemous tome! Still, feeling confident, Álvaro decided to indulge himself by taking a good walk through the camp and checking out some of the doings of the residents.

An Oriental Tourney - The Jewel of Egypt and the First Day

Herr Keztler von Shillech and his nephew Odo spent their day with their mouths wide open in awe of the magnificent city. It was particularly shocking for young Odo, who had never seen much beyond central Germany, to behold the splendor of the East. Although von Shillech was more well traveled, he too was amazed, especially by the number of domes in the city, "more than Constantinople perhaps," he said to Sayed. The party the greater part of the day wandering the streets and the bazzars of the city, picking up things here and there, and pausing for prayer at the call of the muezzin. At the dusk, they sat off to return to the castle of Salidin, both Germans vowing they would have to return to the great city soon.

The Lord of Augsburg awoke refresh in the morning and donned his armor (and his new silk tunic he had gotten in Cairo the previous day), confident that he would make up for his poor showing at tipping. When he heard he was going against Sir Richard, his mood improved all the more and the Bavarian smiled at Princess Sarah as he passed the podium on his brown steed. The first pass simply enraged the German, who went into a bit of a rage when his lance broke not on his opponent's shied but the barrier posts...

By the Blessed Virgin! Damn this Sarecen farce! Who has done this thing, putting post up this high!?! Fools, damn thee! *shakes fist at no one in particular*

Finally his squire grabbed his horse by the reins and calmed his master, who then silently trotted back to his starting position while the audience murmured. Now, came the second pass and a bit of embrassment again for von Shillech. His lance wobbled as the two warriors closed, but Sir Richard broke the tips of both their lances instead of hitting Herr von Shillech dead on. It had been a lucky break of him and he knew it. He saw the Gelrian's salute and returned it, then pasted the podium saluting the Princess again. He then retired to his pavilion, not wishing to see the rest of the knights perform, dead tired and disappointed in himself. Next time, he would do better.

No more disappointments, Father! There shall be no more! I so swear...

Sayed's aviary​

After pushing the Knight to come to Cairo with his nephew , he immediatly declined from wandering the city, but took them directly to his mansion.
"As I promised, I would show you my wonderful Aviary, thusly here it is...." He pointed at the Humongious Bird centorium, ordained with brisstle trees and Palms.All types of birds, African, European and Asian graced the halls with their echoing sound.Sparrots and black ravens squaked, some repeating "Bismallah" and "Allah Akbar".Cocktiels playful jidded on the walls and cocked their hands in a tranced dance.Small tiny birds frolecked the nests and trees, blistfully working to build their homes.

Sayd looked at the Bavarians " Well this is it....heh not too fancy" he smiled.One of the birds qieckly descended upon Sayeds shoulder and began to squeel saying "Hello Master, Hello Master *Squak* Salam Alekum" Sayed smiled "This is Jannan, a female from Timbuktu" He patted the birds back , which purred with pleasure.

Suddenly another bird, a tiny, pinkish like bird of a sort, jumped at the shoulder of the Bavarian's nephew
"Hewwo" it purred gently.Sayed look at the bird and smiled "The bird takes a liking to you my friend,its yours.Amazingly it was always afraid of people, I have no use for a bird which likes Franks!"He joked. "its name is Cotka"

Lord Mongke tossed his lance into the sand. "What fools fight with these stupid sticks," he shouted to the uncaring air in Mongol. "I should just shoot them out of the saddle, but that would break the rules!" Muttering to himself vile curses upon Egypt, he wandered back to his yurt to sulk.

Asad ad-Din Shirkuh manages a fine touch. Unfortunbatly for his oponent, his lance is knocked across his body to break. Sir Álvaros second run is no better. He allows his lance tip to drop and hit the ground, causing the black knight to miss. Many wonder if this is in fact Asad ad-Din, but it is impossible to tell. He keeps his visor closed and leaves before anyone can ask.

Herr Keztler von Shillech. The name will ring through the halls of posterity forever. His lack of control when sitting his mount is commical. One wonders if someone has put a thorn in his saddle blanket ! On the first run Sir Richards sweeping lance upsets Herr Keztlers mount enough to make it bolt into a vendor, neer killing him. On the second run Herr Keztlers mount has not settled properly. He rears in mid charge. Sir Richards professional training takes over and his strike hits true and he dismounts his oponent. (Sir Richard +1 mount. Herr Keztler -1 )

Lord Mongke is getting the hang of things. A potentialy broken lance is converted into smashed lance tips by the skill of his opponent (General Ali) on the first run though. On the second he skillfully manages to fully break his lance on his foe before his mount is nearly killed by his oponent. (General Ali*) The mount survives and can be ridden after small surgery.

Lord Mongke laughed after toppling the General into the dust. He rode past him again, shaking his spear in the air, and then charged down past the reviewing stand. As he passed the "prize," he thrust his spear toward her suggestively with a broad, rotten smile, then rode for his yurt.

On the evening before the second run Sir Richard was suprised by seeing a small boy, as black as the night, who handed him a letter. At first Richard had trouble reading the handwriting but as through a miracle all became much clearer when he saw Sarahs name.

That night Sir Richard climbed onto the tower, once again waiting for the girl of his live...

The moon was gracefully bestowing its light upon the lands of Egypt, illuminating the oasis in unerathly tranquility.Sarah was worried that her beloved wouldnt come, but her fears were elevated when she saw him climbing up the esplenade.She ran to him and gave him a hand.She adorned herself with a simple Andalusian robe, she prefered the simple over the complex, she hugged him deeply.
"Im happy you came my love, your ability surpasses all those in the match, you have brought a smile to my face.I hope you werent hurt or anything?" She quickly checked him, affectionatly looking for any pains or wounds.

When the Princess hugged him Richard thought himself into heaven and he hoped that the moment would never pass. Alas it wasn't so. He had to blush when she complimented him on his achievements and he feared that he would once again stutter but he managed to control himself.

"Sarah, most beautifull flower in the desolate desert, fear not as I am fine and even better now I see you again." Richard thought back to the run of that day. How he felled ashamed in the first run along the lists when he had completely missed the Bavarian who he, suprisingly, had to run against for the second time. And how proud he had felled when he had managed to unsattle the German.

"Now my Queen of Love and Beauty, what did you want to disclose to me?"

An Oriental Tourney - The Horror of the Second Day

The morning of the second day, Herr von Shillech was awoken by the skawking of his nephew's new pet, Catka the Parrot. The bird was becoming the least favorite of Sayed's gifts, at least to the Lord of Augsburg, but it did serve this morning as a useful alarm. So he got upon and went one of the ponds near the camp to bathe and refresh himself for the day's work. He also prayed and invoked Saint Christopher to aid him in the joust. He had to do better... there was no choice in the matter.

Yet, perhaps Herr von Shillech put to much pressure on himself, because his effort were all for nought this day. During the first run, his horse, for some unknown reason, became jittery and bolted as soon as the Gelrian's lance unsettled Herr von Shillech. One could hear him cursing up a storm in the stands even though his visor remained down the whole time. His squire once again had to come to calm both knight and horse down in preparation for the second run. That too was to no avail as this time the horse reared just as Sir Richard was approaching... von Shillech's lance missed totally while the Gelrian knocked him clear from the saddle. The Bavarian did not rise slowly from his fall but instead almost leapt up though in full armour, full of wrath and fury. He gave but a curt salute to Sir Richard and marched off the field yelling at his trusted squire...

YOU FOOL! I would have done better if you had given me a grey-haired nag to ride! If you were not of some noble blood, I would slay you here and now before the crowd! At least that would wipe this shameful day clear from my mind, even if it be only for a second. AND GET THAT DAMNED HORSE OUT OF MY SIGHT! That is the one we shall give to that damned Low-lander and if he does not want that one, we shall have it for dinner. By God, I did come so far to be humiliated before the eyes of so many! I care not to win some princess, if ever I did, but now I fight to end my shameful days at this field. A duel shall do fine and then we shall see who the better man is. PULL THIS DAMNED ARMOUR OFF!

A Bird's Diary

My first day, away from Cairo, away from my friends, was ok.The infidle lil guy was kind to me, gimming me seeds and some waterzzz.I should have listend to Miss Jenjan when she was teaching us how to spell, anyho ,I like this Bavblaah guy, but the bigger guy isnt so nice.

In the Morning some Kat came up and said meow, so I replied with a Hewwo, and she raised her paws at me!Ebil kitties!so i screamed and jumped, and when I woke up my masters, they shouted at me!Curszes them then!Im just a lil 3 months oldez or someting.

So the guy, the big guy, goes out screaming and shouttingg, like a Kat!*Kat was erased* like...like...a Crow!a Crow!yes beeek beeek beeek.
Ahem back to the story, so ehs shouting, and ummm, he goes to this tiny guy and screams at him because of a horsey poney something.
Anywayz, I hope my masters will like me zoon.

Anyway, humans are weirdz, nvr understood them, neber will.

On the second run Sir Jaques de Voluceau brings the tips together in fine order but the might of Herr Keztler is too much and he holds true with the remaining lance stub to dismount Sir J.
