No, freedom does not change your ethic - I am still Fanatic Spiritualist/Collectivist. Was Fanatic Spiritualist/Xenophile before.

I was playing my first game and i was playing it to be quite long (normal dificulty, it's my first Stellaris game). After stopping Prethoryn Swarm crisis only to find out 20 years later that Materialist FE avoke to stop already stopped crisis, I desided to cause War in Heaven. Selected way was simple - attack Xenophobe FE (Pious Greenpeace space elves do it simple - send in the Dragon and then send in battleships with war cry "They hurt poor defenceless baby dragon!")
I crashed their fleet and took 4 of their 6 planets. And just after war ended i got this message

Does FE understand that they are calling to purge their own citizens?
Until 1.5, I don't even want to play this version anymore.Until 1.5, there are very few ways to change your empire's ethos.
This is somewhere between a bug and a feature. Heriditary rules will always be of the same species. Even if you Genemod the whole species away*. Indeed the Worm event has a specific override to change already existing leaders on the "transform all" choice.2) This is more interesting. Eventually I gene-modded my population to give them Enduring trait. All futere leaders got +30 years to live. Nobody of my Lifebringers (title) got that + 30 years to live. Literaly, not a single ruler long after I performed this gene mode over all the species! They all died on 82+ and not on 112+. This looks like bug to me(
