In my game, the (female) Great Khan died, apparently after an "encounter with alien concubine".

Guess she should have taken the Xeno-Compatibility perk.


Anyway, what are people's thoughts on this perk ?

And what weirdness might result from it ? I'm thinking of a few planets I have where the population is a mix between my original founder species, and the modified founder species (modified by an alien artifact with red/blue/green vials of goop). Having a half-founder/half-improved-founder species being better than either, just seems a bit weird.

Is it possible to take on authoritarian or do you have to be xenophile?

Is it possible to take on authoritarian or do you have to be xenophile?
You have to be some degree of xenophile to take it, but nothing is stopping you from being Authoritarian-Xenophile. Xenophilia cancels out Authoritarian's access to species-wide slavery, but you can partially regain it with the Slaver Guilds/Indentured Assets civic. Aside from that, they work perfectly well together.

I don't like it. There is 30 billion different half-sth species cluttering my species screen thanks to this mechanic and I don't even have the perk. Makes me wanna turn xenophobe/authoritarian just to clean up the damn screen a bit.

How? For some reason they become separate species. Not templates (aka subspecies) of the parent species.
Oh that seems to be a bug, in my games they become templates as usual, are you sure they are not breeds between your species and another empire's species, hence not appearing in you empire species?

They are separate species as far as I can see. Here is a small sample of the endless rows upon rows of them. At this point I have just given up. I have created a penal colony and exiled all the hafus there. In the hopes of containing the epidemic, since as an egalitarian xenophile I can't purge them.

I see, make a bug report, it seems that as those half species have spare points the game makes them full species and then crossbreed them again
Not sure if I can make a useful bug report for this. As I don't know how to reproduce it, as I said I don't even have xeno-compatibility, this just happens.

Biggest issue I have with this perk is the UI issues caused by it. Especially resettlement and the army recruitment window which have no way to sort by habitability or army strength so finding the best pops for planet/army is very difficult.

Oh yeah that's a mess. As an egalitarian xenophile I have like 3 billion species in my empire. Building up armies involves endless amounts of scrolling and the resettlement screen is just a disaster. Well at least it doesn't grind my game to a halt when opening it anymore, so that's sth.

I want to love it, but the way it generates the species is just terrible. I'd prefer if it named both "halves" on the name, such as "Human-Blorg" or "Half-Human Blorg" instead of... this.

Try applying one of that subspecies and see if you can apply to the original species
As shown in the picture, they are considered separate species. You can only apply templates of a species to it, not templates that belong to other species. So I can apply the sub-halfs to the main halfs but not back to the parent species, since as far as the game is concerned they don't have one.
