Niklas,

I have used a fix from Luke here on this forum to delete all of my saves. When it happens again I will email the info needed above unless you can look into my good saves or you can fix the crashing of the game mainly when it saves or at least once an hour.

I am sure you can replicate the bug by playing for more than an hour. Especially the crashing.

I have my auto save set to 2 minutes. While trying to manually save at almost the same time as the auto save kicked in, my save screen froze. I could back out of this screen and continue playing my city, but the auto and manual save no longer worked. Trying to load a previous save did nothing, so I quit the game and tried to reload from the dashboard. I started the game again but it stuck on the startup screen, so now even the game would not load.

I did not delete any save games or the install of the game. I simply moved the whole game across from the external hard drive it was originally installed to, back to the internal hard drive. The game started first time and all of my saves work.

I've never used the hide UI button and if I have on accident, it's never happened while the game auto saves because I disabled auto saving. So that doesn't seem like it could be the problem or at least the only problem that causes save corruption.
It might just be that once you create a new save or, in my case, at least try to, it corrupts the save. These issues started happening to me when my game crashed autosaving and then afterwards I accidentally pressed the new game button The whole "autosave" thing was just an idea. The two might not be connected like I initially thought, if you're having the same issue without it turned on.

Hey everyone,

My name is Niklas and I'm the producer for Cities: Skylines at Paradox. First off, we're super sorry that his issue has been hitting a number of you and made your save games unplayable.

Tantalus Media are aware of and working on a solution for this problem, but with your help we would hopefully be able to nail the issue down more quickly.

We could access individual users' save games with the help of Microsoft, but in order to do so we need your explicit consent to do so in an email that is connected to your Xbox gamertag.

So in essence, if you want to help out by giving us permission to investigate your Cities save files, please write the following in an email:

"I hereby agree that Microsoft, Paradox Interactive and Tantalus Media may investigate my save games for Cities: Skylines - Xbox One Edition for the purposes of fixing an issue with loading saves in the game."

Then please email this to cities_producers@paradoxplaza.com and include your gamertag. Microsoft will then be able to extract your save games for us to look into in hopes of fixing this bug.

All the best,
Niklas
First of all most everyone has done "Luke's" fix so most all saved data is gone, we had to do Luke's fix to make the game playable. A patch to fix this problem is a far better option than trying to retrieve old lost useless city's. Can you just make the game playable for the future. Thanks everyone who still finds tgis game somewhat enjoyable

So I killed mine again today. This game makes my external drive chug a ton and it is a loud drive. So I moved the game to my internal drive and then once the game was moved I launched it again and no city will load again.

I feel like you missed the point of them asking for the saved games. It is not always the case that the developers can remedy a bug simply by reading code alone. Most times, it is best to replicate the bug, then run the programs in debug to identify the cause. I assume that paradox is having difficulty finding the conditions to cause this bug to appear, and is asking for corrupt saves to see what occurred to better help them determine what scenario might allow them to replicate the bug. Once the bug is replicated, the developers will determine the code that needs modified to resolve the bug. Then that solution will need to go through QA, and then released as a patch.

The more saves paradox gets, the better they can analyze the data to see what do all these corrupt saves have in common. Them asking for saves means they are having difficulty replicating the issue. I didn't see the bug until over 30 hours of play time. I ran into many others during that time however.

I think paradox would love to find a solution that corrects the corrupt saves, but asking for saves isn't to fix each one individually and return them, the saves are just data to help pinpoint the bug.

I already have 1 new city at 255k, one at 90k and one at 40k, the issue is that if my new saves get corrupted that will be a problem. After Luke's fix in trying to be gentle with the game as to cause no corrupt data. If there could be a patch to fix this problem that would be great. Thanks

Like I said before I did Luke's fix I have no cloud storage there for I have no old corrupt data.

Yeah, I tried the erase trick too and it didn't pull anything from the cloud and there is no way manually to pull it off like on other systems. So I lost my city of 104000 sims. That said I've started a new city that's up to 35000 and I haven't run into any problems at all yet. My problems in the first city started almost immediately. Has there been an update on the backend? I haven't crashed in over 15 hours of gameplay, I was crashing at least once a gameplay session before.

My best guess is to turn off auto saves, I pause the game before I save it often, I only play one city at s time if I am going to play another city I shut my Xbox off completely and let it fully reboot, I haven't had many issues since I started doing this.

If you can get Luke's fix to work I might suggest playing this game offline, no cloud storage, seemed to be giving people trouble. I'm playing is in offline mode myself.

On another subject if this corrupt data issue ever gets resolved since its been a few weeks now and many players are still unable to play. Are we going to be getting our money back, are we going to get free DLC, I think the people that purchased your game disserve something for all this hassle. Otherwise why by another paradox game for my Xbox s, when there are plenty of other developers who seem to have there ducks in a row when it comes to Xbox.

Welp spoke to soon as I hit about 45,000 the freezing started. I'm now at 61000 and it's starting to happen more often. I'm gonna be really disappointed if I lose another city to this bug. I've never used auto save. I'm going to turn off my "instant on" on Xbox because I think that might be part of the problem. Please hurry

I'm a little bit disappointed with the guys behind this game, not fixing an issue that is making the game unplayable. I have been unable to play for nearly 2 weeks now. It's a good job that I have go Mass effect Andromeda to play aswell !!

I got to about 90k with not too many issues crashing. Just the usual getting stuck in bulldoze mode, a few freezes, and don't even try to use statistics, it crashes every time. However, today I cannot load or delete saves, nor can I save anything. I see this has been a problem for weeks. I agree with many others that with a game breaking bug like this, refunds should be offered immediately, especially for digital downloads. Something has to change in software policy that protects the consumer as well as the developer. Right now we have no course of action and have wasted money. The strict policies are to protect developers from piracy, but right now the developers are the thieves. They are stealing by selling a non usable product. At the very least it should be pulled from the store until fixed, but it hasn't, proving how insincere they really are.
