Hello, people of the earth!

Once again you asked for more and we answer to your request! (well, unfortunately not about the longer streams :( ) But one more hour Yapan single player! :D

What I will try to show off this session is bringing the Chinese to their keens and also forcing a naval combat with them. The only points I currently have are:
  • Naval combat
  • Peace conference
  • Creating a Custom faction
  • Update: Showing off battle plans a bit more.
What more is up to you. Write a comment of what you would like to see (keep it to what's possible to do with Japan) and I'll to to provide :)

Are the Chinese divisions built on the standard HOI4 default template or on one of the two potential historical approaches - units represent divisions of historically typical division strength, which is more like a brigade/regiment in other armies, or units represent Chinese corps of normally 3 divisions in concert, with a corps strength comparable to full-size divisions in other armies?

I seem to recall that HOI4 doesn't have direct rebel divisions like previous iterations of the series, but I would be interested to see a bit more about unrest too (especially the management of it). I seem to recall having seen text pop up on the map indicating that infrastructure / industry were being blown up last WWW.

I'd also love to hear a brief comment on how war declarations work in two particular instances:

1. The fascist free war declaration - I recall it has an IC ratio restriction on it. What is that ratio currently? Also, is that effective IC or IC in national provinces? In other words, if prior to a war country A and B both have 100 factories, but now country B is on the verge of capitulation with only 20 factories available to A's 180, is the free declaration no longer valid because of the current imbalance, or does the nationality of factories matter more? If it is the former, is there some sort of warning or way to check when a nation is getting close to losing the ability to freely declare war, so you don't end up needing to spend a bunch of political power unexpectedly?

2. Democracy war declaration - According to one of the older dev diaries this is gated by world tension, which is a global value. But I am wondering what other constraints there are on democracies declaring war? For example, requiring a nation to have contributed at least 10 points to world tension before they can declare war. Basically, once tension reaches 100, what stops a nation like the US or UK from using political power to declare a war of conquest / subjugation on a country like, say, Canada?

I think skipping ahead to 1941 and war with the US would be the best place for the stream. I would like to see the in between but not as a live play.

I would like to see the creation of a more detailed battle plan (rather than just a general advance), possibly encirclements planned out already for the rest of the campaign in China.

Id love to see you use a custom division template along side the normal ones and see how they compare in battle. Right now all the divisions are just a 3x3 of infantry. I'd love to see you use some mountaineers. Or a 2x3 of inf +1 art/light arm.

Also you mentioned making a custom faction while that seems like a cool thing to do wouldn't it be suicide to not have Germany as an ally?

Land bases aircraft attacking fleets. No invasion of SU ... we don't need anymore sluggish force movements due to infrastructure. Attack the British and its Pacific friends for oil and rubber.

I checked the save now, I think you might have "miss-seen" it, I have a beautiful upgraded fighter :)

Yes, you do - but you are not producing it ;)
If you look at the youtube vid you make the variant around 56:50 but you never change production away from Fighter 1 to the Exp variant.

Or did I completely missunderstand how variants work? i.e. do you not have to produce them?

EDIT: Please ignore this. As pointed out to me by GhengisKhan, Daniel is really building the Exp variant - I just had a case of selective blindness - sorry :oops:

I would like to see how having land based air superiority and land based bombers over a water "province" effects naval combat, especially when carried based aircraft are involved as well.

Yes please this, so far all the division setups I've seen all seem very vanilla, basic, not very realistic. Irl division compositions were complex with lots of different support/combat elements involved to keep a division able to operate as a force independent from other units.

If you look at the youtube vid you make the variant around 56:50 but you never change production away from Fighter 1 to the Exp variant.

Or did I completely missunderstand how variants work? i.e. do you not have to produce them?

Look at the vid again. Right above the production of the model it says what model it is producing. It quite clearly says Exp. He is producing the new variant.
