Yes and no. Yes they shot a lot of planes, but no not with our airforce, which was ill-equipped.

From what I've read, Dutch planes were about the best there were during that time. Unfortunately, it had rained, and the Airfields were still grass (and not concrete) and thus the planes couldn't fly any sorties...

We were still fighting with biplanes for godssake, the most modern fighter was the D-21 which dated to the early 30's and didn't even have rectractable gear. The only halfway decent plane was the fokker G-1 which was a fighter bomber kind of thing and quite modern, alass half of them were IIRC destroyed on the ground, and there weren't that many to begin with.
