I thought I would have a go at my first game on hard as the USA. I normally play Germany or have the game more or less won in 42/43 even if playing England.
Game more or less went as the script until late 38 when Germany didn't get the Sudetenland. I thought they were screwed. At least they invaded Poland and France on time. I geared up for Pearl Harbour and had a very small army and built some new BB and aircraft carriers.
Japan didn't attack me so I manually DoW them in March 42 and my fleet sailed forth for glory. I hade upgraded airbases in Guam and Wake Island, lotsa LR subs based in Guam for convoy raiding, 3 SAGs with fire control, rader and improved hull. THe Japanese sunk most of the subs and mauled the fleet who spend a good chunk of the next year or so in prt getting repaired and sucking up lots of resources to repair. Between alliances with UK and stealing blueprints I need to do alot of research to catch up as its now 42 and I trying to research doctirines, nuke tech, new planes, etc.
Somehow I'm also at war vs the USSR as well but they can't do much to me and have lost Leningrad, Moscow and the Germans are at the gates of Stalingrad. American trrops have drivin the Italians ouf of Palestine and out of Libya and marines have captured Iwo Jima for a bombing base. Naval and strategic bombing raids near or on Japan have been repulsed with heavy casualties.
I have around 20-24 naval bombers though (most bought off the UK/Canada) and they re currently engged in the reasonably safe past time of bombing convoys. I checked the Japan sae game and they are constructing X6 lines on convoys. I haven't really had a late game before and I want to build a nuke and have Jetplanes being the ultimate goal. Any advice on what to do? I'm somewhat concerned at a monster German AI in Europe if they defeat the Russians, or if I interfere in Europe I'll have to face the Red Army more or less alone assuming I defeat the Germans. That could get very messy as well as I'm at war with the USSR.
What techs should I concentrate on? I should have a level 3 reactor by the end of 43 and I'm trying to pdate the army and build more planes. Whats the best way to use naval bombers vs Japan as I have alot of them and who should I pick on the most.
