WWI Scenario Tips?

I've enjoyed playing the grand campaign scenario for a long time, but only recently started a WWI Great War Game.

I was just wondering if anyone has any tips?

Does the game play out historically?

For instance, I'm playing Germany and I haven't gotten the Ottoman's onboard yet? Will Italy join the Central Powers or allies? Will Russia leave and go Bolshevik? Any of this hardwired?

I realize Viki isn't a pure wargame (I like it that way), but I'm amazed more HOI players haven't climbed aboard to try the Great War...and to be honest I haven't seen many Viki forum posts dedicated to Play of the WWI Scenario.

It seems fun...opening moves and dreadnought battles in the med and asia...land battles in the west, east africa, prussia.

oh thanks for posting that link. i will definitely try the mod (though being on a mac makes it a bit more voodoo). looks very cool.

as far as my first great war campaign -- it was pretty awesome and maybe too easy. for players who usually just play the grand campaign, i really have to say the WWI scenario is a fun (and fast-paced) rush.

belgium folded too easily to germany. and after that... well...let's just say paris fell and northern italy was invaded from the western side and that was pretty much the end for the allies...u.s. didn't even have a chance to join.

it was cool seeing the allied surrender events fire...hell, germany winds up with gibraltar, malta and 1/3 of africa.

it's really a shame there isn't an HOI Mod that allows for a WWII game against a germany that had won round one!

Are you serious??? There is!! Check out the "Kaiserreich" mod for HoI2. http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=223176 It's the most popular mod for that game and gives you exactly that. Beware though, you may need a while to recognize Britain and France in this mod. They let their fantasies roam far and wide when thinking up the idelogies and countries for this mod.
