As the U.S. in 1944, I'm still waiting for Pearl Harbor. I got bored and conquered Spain and Mexico. (Am I playing the 1898 version of this game or something?) Maybe my belligerence got too high for Japan to mess with? Who knows... In Europe, Germany has rolled through Stalingrad and Moscow, but Leningrad was able to hold out, and now that Finland has switched sides, has a lot more breathing room. I might have to DOW Vichy France just to get into the game :)

Correct, said it before, he who wants a historical simulation has picked the wrong game :) Read a book :D

I have to disagree with you. This a "war game"! I don't care if it is a historycal simulation or not, but I want to see WAR! And in my current game all the states are sleeping...

The 7 year old child in me laughed so hard at that.

I DOWed French and UK and soon it camed to some naval battles, where the UK ships kicked my ass :eek: quite easily. I thougth I am good covered around Indochina with 4 SS, 3DD and 2xflotillas with 10 (5 capital and 5 screening) ships each. Soon one of my flotillas were "convertet to submarines" as it met an UK horde of 40 ships (25 capital)

Now I know, why did you laugh about my Super lonely Super Heavy...

Just thought i'd add my 2 cents about this type of comment (which was also aimed at me when I questioned an unusual event in HOI2). I agree with Alexander Seil and LonelyMortician, this is a lame answer - especially coming from moderators.

Cumi, I reckon you start and fight a war of survival as Japan - it should be a tough challenge; but, would you want it any other way? Try and join the axis first though...

For my problem of "danzig or war" never occuring I modified the trigger conditions for the event 2080 in germany.txt from this:
Code:
trigger = {
		OR = {
			event = 3403 # Poland declines proposal
			event = 3603 # UK didn't propose alliance at all
			}
		exists = POL
		government = fascist
		NOT = {
			OR = {
				owned = { province = 303 data = GER } # Danzig
				alliance = { country = GER country = POL }
				war = { country = GER country = POL }
				puppet = { country = POL country = GER }
				ispuppet = GER
			}
		}
		NOT = { atwar = GER }
	}
to this:
Code:
trigger = {
		NOT = { event = 3402 } # Poland accepts guarantee
		exists = POL
		government = fascist
		NOT = {
			OR = {
				owned = { province = 303 data = GER } # Danzig
				alliance = { country = GER country = POL }
				war = { country = GER country = POL }
				puppet = { country = POL country = GER }
				ispuppet = GER
			}
		}
		NOT = { atwar = GER }
	}
Now there is no more doubt that either the 2027 (with English support) or 2080 (without English support) will fire.
For your information, on my first try Poland choosed to fold, so the war still not started at Danzig but this time this was no more a bug but a feature :D

I don't have the option. How should I do it?

I also don't understand, that Germany is the only country in Axis. No Italy, Romania, Hungary... Just Germany.

I loaded the game as Germany, DOW Poland and then loaded and played further as Japan. Then I DOW French and UK and it started to roll for me. But what about Gemany? Germany annexed Polad soon, but got about 3 provinces on the west occupied by the French. WTF??? Maybe Germany was really not ready for war in '41, or what? :confused:

Can it be the problem, that I started to play the game without the 1.3 Patch and I patched it when it was '40?

Any tipps?

To join the Axis you must improve your relations with Germany trough the diplomacy windows the try "Join alliance" in the same window.
You should not patch in the middle of a game because the events sequence will be messed and the AI might not be able too select the right script too. That "may" explain why germany was not ready in 41.

Follow Tiger's advice.

I like to play the game in different manners. Sometimes I like to go Authoritarian, others I like to stick to history and see if I can with the war faster than Nimitz, Eisenhower, and MacArthur.

Granted, the first way is much funner, but the second way can be, too. Living with that huge IC penalty during peacetime nearly cripples the USA - especially on the higher difficulties. One game I started I didn't even have enough IC to continue building what was in the starting queue.

In other words, both ways are fun. However, when playing the more democratic and "historical" USA it is often frustrating when sitting back watching Europe turn Red in 1944 and Japan has still not DOW'd me. There's only three years left in the war (gametime) and I'm not even in it yet! And Lord knows the Brits aren't going to do anything on their own. Oh, wait. I guess that IS historic....

This is not to mention the many manhours that we put into these games. I can spend a good five or six hours watching the days pass, organizing fleets, building brigades and putting them in the right divisions, etc... It's very frustrating to look up and notice what year it is and youve put all of this effort into things and have only a few years to "play" with your weapons that you've built.

BTW: Does anyone ever build just one superbattleship, or put them into series? I usually build about eight all at once to get them out of the way so I can start my armor series'. Is that what the chuckle was all about?
