In my opinion there is no better mod. Perhaps if you stated a criteria or certain objectives that you are looking for in a mod, some recommendations might be made.
Sir Humphrey didn't you just say on the CORE forum that they would blow away all competition. I see your playing Diplomacy withought the game being out yet hehe.
I did some searching in HSR and the guy shave done a good job but they do have tons of cheat events for the AI that gives free units but it definately does provide a great challenge.
TRP is still in beta and IMO it is not very playable yet. We are doing bug fixes and waiting for patch 1.3 before we start balance testing the mod.
Risk MOD has had allot of downloads off the TRP website and has gotten many peoples attention.
Austria MOD is relatively new on the TRP website but it seems to be getting some attention.
Starfire is another MOD that concentrates heavy on the combat engine of the game

I'd say that you're best off getting HSR, TRP and Starfire. Then when CORE comes out, get it too. Variety is the spice of life, and all that.

Whitch has the most events. Usely its core by fare but seeing as its not out yet what current mod offers them? I like lots of new tech,units,events and such.
TRP and HSR both add a lot of events - HSRs are mostly new, while TRP appears to be harvesting CORE1.
I wouldn't call it Harvesting CORE 1. Luxor has re-written about 99% of those events. They are no where near like they were for CORE 1.
As in harvesting for ideas - a lot of the TRP events appeared in some form in CORE. Luxor's done a sterling job rewriting them.
Sounds like this might get messy. I don't think anyone has harvested anything and we are dealing with, in the most cases, widly known historical "events", that no particular one can claim to.
No this will not get messy cause we already had these discussions with the CORE team over a year ago.
HSR is not historical mod, it just makes Nazi Germany uber-powerful, so it's for players, which want to make all the world black without too much work.
