So I started as a duke of Saxony in HRE and after failing independence rebellions and having my family breed like rabbits for awhile I decided to start taking shots at Denmark who seemed to be failing apart. I take a look at the king and see a interesting claim on his hands... The theocracy of England o_O. At this point I was confused and interested and wanted to look into England's situation and after being surprised that England had wrest a small amount of control back from Norway I saw that the current bishop-king had control of a single church town which was not the counties capital... and this particular county was in wales... the bishop-king doesn't even have his own county... and isn't even apart of the England controlled territory... how does this happen?

i did this as the king of ireland on england, gave a claimant a theocracy and then pressed his claim, huge rebellion followed :p

EDIT: so basically it happened because someone pushed a bishop's claim on the throne, and succeeded, most likely using the factions system

I had something similar happen to Scotland in my current game while I wasn't paying attention. This is going to make it really difficult to take over Scotland.

If you intend to take England, I would recommend you do so fast, before all the claimants die out.

Yeah, I've noticed this as well, it seems one of the Godwins is bishop, and Lancaster attempts to put him on throne almost every game for me.

This stuff happens. I once had France (or whatever was left of it) ruled by a Capet bishop.

if you want it to become a kingdom again you can take king-bishop's main holding (the bishopric) and he'll take a random county from one of his vassals, most likely he'll take one with the castle as the capital, and become a King
