I consistently get the wrong checksum (BOQD instead of XFMJ) in CK2 2.0.1 despite several clean reinstalls and restarting my computer. I don't know if I had a correct checksum previously or if this is a recent problem. I don't care about multiplayer, but I'd like to try out Ironman mode as I do have a tendency to savescum. Anyhow:

1. Running Steam version on Windows 7 x64.
2. When doing clean reinstalls I deleted the CK2 folder in My Documents as well as checked that the folder in Steamapps had been removed. (Miss anything?)
3. Tried deactivating all DLC, but that did nothing.
4. Did a quick check with regedit to see if there was anything in the registry, but didn't spot anything.

edit:
5. Forgot to mention: Have verified integrity of the game cache several times, does nothing.

Completely deleting those two folders will mean that a new install should be entirely intact and have the right checksum. You are not running with any mods loaded, right? Because they will almost always change the checksum.

Also, if Steam is installed in the system path (under c:\program files\) you might find there's a second copy of the Steam/CK2 directory in the Windows Virtual Store. Uninstall again and then go to the Steam path where CK2 was and click on the Windows 'compatibility files" link/button - see if there's another copy there and delete that.

Aside from those possibilities it pretty much has to be a Steam issue, we might need to do a reinstall of Steam itself - if that turns out to be necessary, may as well install it outside the system path to avoid complications.

Are you 100% confident that you successfully deleted ALL files remaining under both Steam/CK2 AND Documents/CK2 after the uninstall ? Because that really should fix this.

The only further thing to try is a full clean Steam reinstall - move all valued save games for all Steam games elsewhere, do Delete Local Files for all Steam games, then uninstall Steam as a product. Manually clean up any leftover files for all games then reinstall Steam and CK2.

Likely I screwed up when checking that Steam had deleted the Steamapps/CK2 folder when reinstalling. I decided to check inside the folder, noticed that I had copies of a few folders as well as a music file I added years ago, so I deleted everything and verified cache - problem solved. Thanks for the help.
